What made you start making cover videos?

When I was younger, my dad would record videos of me singing and post them on YouTube when YouTube just started. I later got into K-Pop and found myself making my own YouTube channel and covering K-Pop songs for fun. I got a recording mic after being featured on one of Allkpop’s articles as one of the best covers of 2013 and decided to regularly make covers since then.

What do you do besides being an awesome singer?

I am a full-time college student majoring in psychology!

What was your first-ever cover song?

On my YouTube channel, the first song I covered was “Every Night” by EXID.

What kind of music do you cover besides K-Pop?

Other than K-Pop, I’ve covered English songs from Ariana Grande, Tori Kelly, and Billie Eilish. I’ve also covered a few Filipino songs by Moira Dela Torre.

When making cover videos, what’s the most important thing that you do/check?

I don’t think I have anything that’s exceptionally important for me to do when I make covers. The entire process of recording the song and taking the video is important to me!

Who’s your favorite K-Pop artist to cover? And why?

My favorite artist to cover is definitely Taeyeon. I’m in love with her voice, and her genre is exactly the kind of music I imagine myself singing if I were to make my own songs.

Can you briefly tell us what kind of equipment(mic, program, camera, etc.) you use for your cover videos?

The microphone I use is the Blue Yeti in black, the program I use to edit the vocals is Audacity, the camera I use is my phone, and the video editing software I use is iMovie!

How long does it take for you to prepare for a cover song and what are the preps you do?

If I’m covering a song from a group I really like, I’d have already learned the song just from listening to it so many times, so recording it would be a piece of cake. There are a lot of times where I heard a song for the first time and thought “I wanna cover this,” and I’d be too impatient to learn it before recording that I would learn as I record. I learn and record one section at a time until I’ve finished the main vocals and adlibs for the song, and then I move onto background vocals and edit as I go! If I’m really motivated, I can finish a cover in a day.

Is there any good tip that you can share to sing well?
1: Relax. There have been so many times my voice didn’t sound the way I wanted it to because I was nervous, so my voice turned out shaky.

2: Emotions. Know what kind of emotions you want to portray when you’re singing a song, and if you pour your feelings into it, the message will get through to the audience.

What is your goal this year?

My goal is to continue to make covers and reach out to more K-Pop fans!

Finally, what does K-Pop mean to you?

I would be a completely different person if I never got into K-Pop. My uncle introduced me to K-Pop when I was 9 years old, and it still means a lot to me even at the age of 21. K-pop opened my mind to a completely different culture, and I don’t regret it one bit.

Check out more of her amazing covers on her YouTube Channel!
