The much-awaited debut of HYBE's newest girl group LE SSERAFIM finally happened back on May 2, 2022. It practically took next to no time before these girls made their marks in their first few weeks as a unit. The girl group racked up their first music show win on the May 10th episode of "The Show."
With a little over a week under their belts, LE SSERAFIM has undeniably lived up to the hype. Promotions are underway, and it all began with the music video for the girl group's debut single 'Fearless.' Let us analyze some key aspects of what made this music video so special.
1. Concept

The concept of LE SSERAFIM heavily leans toward the "girl crush" image. However, it comes with a twist. The six girls exude confidence without being overbearing. Bells and whistles like angsty clothing are kept to a minimum, paving the way for the members to exhibit their distinct styles. LE SSERAFIM masterfully showcases each member's strengths and the collective's undeniable aura to get their point across; It's subtle but powerful.
The HYBE girl group struck the appropriate balance between elegance and strength, perfectly encapsulating the modern woman.
2. Fashion and Appearance

Sticking with the theme of subtlety, LE SSERAFIM's members touched all corners of the fashion spectrum and rocked work-out clothing to classy dresses. With an industry heavily reliant on the performers' aesthetic, heavily incorporating extravagant and outlandish clothing, the company trusted its artists enough to let their own unique individual styles do all the talking.
For a debuting girl group, having a straightforward wardrobe choice is a gamble that paid off in spades.
3. Choreography

In a genre dominated by elaborate choreography, LE SSERAFIM proved that less is more, and simple but deliberate choreography to a powerful bassline is enough to keep fans satisfied. It's not to say that Sakura, Kazuha, Huh YunJin, Hong EunChae, Kim GaRam, and Kim ChaeWon couldn't pull off difficult choreography, as all are extremely talented.
It says more about the artists themselves and how they perform the material they're given. In this case, LE SSERAFIM absolutely shined.
4. Music & Music Video

LE SSERAFIM ultimately delivered with the music video for 'Fearless'. It did not overload fans with imagery unrelated to the message of the song, which is embracing one's individuality. It rightfully showcased each member perfectly, as well as establishing a powerful unit ready to take over the music industry.
Watching the music video makes one feel excited for the limitless potential of LE SSERAFIM. The girl group gave the fans what they wanted, without giving everything away. Additionally, it perfectly sets them up for a future of highly-anticipated comebacks and live stages. The word "fearless" perfectly describes this output from the newest and hottest "it" girl group in an extremely competitive 4th generation K-pop scene.
