The K-Drama world has some of the most supportive teachers. Here are some that offer heaps of encouragement and strength.
Dyllan Mykel, Kpopmap EditorThere are K-Dramas of countless genres that cover all the bases. From riveting action scenes to sweet, heartwarming romance, they successfully bridge the gap between reality and fiction, keeping audiences glued to their seats from beginning to end.
Across the various K-Dramas, there are some that occur in a school setting, with much of the focus being on the students and their coming-of-age story. However, behind many student success stories are passionate teachers who wish nothing but the best for everyone in their classes. They become a shining light of encouragement, encourage their students to continue moving forward, and stand tall as a pillar of support when the going gets tough.
Not only does their inspiration reach the students in the show, but also to viewers watching at home. With that said, here are some K-Dramas with motivational school teachers.
Yang JongHoon (Kim MyungMin) is far from the kind, warmhearted teacher that students cannot help but adore. He often goes to the extreme in order to push his students over the line and achieve the next level of success. He tells them that they're capable of surpassing their own limits in their own way. Although his courses are hard, his students offer him the utmost respect and are proud to learn under him.
Much of the drama was an exploration between the relationship of Nam HaengSeon (Jeon DoYeon) and Choi ChiYeol (Jung KyungHo). While romance is very much a central theme, the drama presents an outstanding teacher in Choi ChiYeol. He presents mathematics in a way that's fun to learn and easy to grasp — as long as you pay attention. And even without the help of Nam HaengSeon, he shows that he truly cares for his students wellbeing and want every single one of them to succeed, regardless of their families social status.
"School 2013" is a K-Drama classic — a coming-of-age story with youthful bliss, adolescent woes, and the pains of being a student. However, guiding them is the ever so endearing pair of Jung InJae (Jang NaRa) and Kang SeChan (Choi Daniel). Despite their different methods and approaches to teaching, they band together in order to aid their students on their academic path and successfully pass into senior year.
They team up to become a reliable net to catch the students if they fall, as well as a firm foundation they can stand on. They are a pair of teachers many wish they could have had while attending high school.
While feelings of romance are deeply interwoven into the plot of "Melancholia", viewers are also drawn in by the encouraging teachers that stand in front of them. It is very much a battle against the corruption within the education system and a longing to help students nurture a love for mathematics. Both Ji YoonSoo (Lim SooJung) and Baek SeungYoo (Lee DoHyun) strive to help their students in various ways, speaking to their kind heart and caring personalities.
Despite starting off in a short-term teaching position, Go HaNeul (Seo HyunJin) goes the extra mile in order to ensure her students are supported on both an academic and personal level. While not exactly a friend, she becomes a steady pillar of support, offering words of encouragement and strength. She understands that not all students learn the same and tries her best to meet them where they're at. In this way, Go HaNeul is a radiant light that let's her class know that they're not alone as long as she's there teaching them.
