My Idol Photostory: HyoLyn
Being a former member of one K-Pop’s iconic girl group, SISTAR (now disbanded), HyoLyn is a veteran idol in the K-Pop scene. She debuted with SISTAR in 2010 while also kickstarting her solo career in 2013 by releasing her album ‘Love & Hate‘.
While some people might pass her off as being too provocative and sensual it’s also something that has helped shape her identity. And what’s more, she has the talent and character to be able to execute what she does better than anyone else in the scene. From dance to vocals, and stage presence, she possesses everything necessary to be taken seriously as an artist.

Kim HyoJung was born on December 11th, 1990 in Incheon, South Korea. She suffered from a serious form of biliary atresia as an infant, and underwent several surgeries to fight the illness. She has one younger sister named HyeJung.
She was passionate about singing and dancing ever since she was a child. However, no one was around to recognize her talents, which was why she began applying for auditions on her own starting from a young age. She was initially accepted into JYP Entertainment and was scheduled to debut as a member of a project girl group with JiEun (Secret), Hani (EXID), and Uji (Bestie). The plans for the debut was eventually canceled, leading to her departure from the agency.
She then joined Starship Entertainment afterward in 2010 and debuted as a member of the girl group SISTAR after passing her auditions.
Their first studio album ‘So Cool‘ launched them into mainstream success.
HyoLyn also branched her career into acting as well. She appeared on KBS’s drama ‘Dream High‘ Season 2 as the character ‘Nana‘.
While most K-Pop idols in the scene have very white skin tone, HyoLyn stood out and was known for her attractive darker skin tone.
Her solo career is proving to be potentially more successful than her days in SISTAR. She has collaborated with AOMG‘s star producer Gray for her single ‘Dally’.
