Kpopmap sits down with rapper Junoflo to chat about his impressive career so far and his highly anticipated concert coming up in LA at the end of this month!
binahearts, Staff WriterJunoflo, otherwise known as Samuel Juno Park, was born on September 25, 1992. He was raised in California, and later moved to South Korea to pursue his rap career. Many fans will know him from his appearance on the rap reality show "Show Me the Money" season 5. He was also able to garner a lot of respect and recognition from his fellow rappers and it opened up a lot of opportunities for him in the industry.
The following year, Junoflo released his first album under Feel Ghood Music, which is the agency run by hiphop pioneer Tiger JK. He was able to collaborate with a lot of various artists on the album including Jay Park. In 2019, he released his first full-length album titled "Statues" and that same year, he performed at the NBA halftime show, which was a dream come true.
In 2020, Junoflo returned back home to LA and released an album titled "222:AM." Since then, he has done many collaborations with G2 and is now currently gearing up for a big live show in LA on March 26th.
Kpopmap had the great pleasure of sitting down with Junoflo to chat about what he's been up to and his career.
To start off, would you mind introducing yourself briefly? And let’s break the ice by telling us what your favorite movie of all time is!
My name is Junoflo and I'm a rapper, songwriter and producer from Los Angeles. It's always hard picking just one movie, but if I had to choose.. Goodfellas.
Many will remember you from your appearance in the survival rap show "Show Me the Money 5." You made quite the impression while being a contestant and I know many were rooting for you! How did your experience on the show help you along your career and where you are today?
I'm grateful for the show because it gave a platform for independent artists such as myself. It definitely put some eyes on me and opened many doors. Got me a label deal at the time, which is why I moved to Korea. And even today, now back as an independent artist in the states, people remember me for what I've done on that show.
You’ve worked with some Korean hip hop pioneers including Tiger JK and Jay Park - what kind of advice did they give you when you were starting your career in South Korea?
Tiger JK told me some of the greatest advice while I was adapting to my life and career in Korea -- to stay true to myself and never lose my own flavor in the music. There's no need to emulate what others are doing.
You performed at the NBA halftime show - what was this opportunity like for you? Were you a huge NBA fan growing up in LA?
Yup, I grew up in LA so I was a huge Lakers fan. It felt surreal to perform in the middle of Staples Center.
What are some things you miss most about LA when you’re in South Korea? And vice versa?
Tacos and Mexican food, for sure. But when I'm back in LA, I miss pyeongyang naengmyun in Korea (cold noodles).
What is something you would like to tell your younger self, being where you are right now?
You're not gonna believe this... you're making a living off of music. It's not easy, but keep going man.
For those fans of yours who have been part of your journey from the start of your career, what are some more things that they can look forward to in the future?
Growth and evolution of my sound and artistry. I'm diving into a whole new soundscape and it'll all be coming real soon.
Are there any artists these days that really speak to you and you vibe with?
These days I've really been focused on production so it's been a whole bunch of DJs and producers that have been inspiring me, such as Four Tet and Ben UFO.
We understand that you’ll be part of a massive show featuring some other artists including Justin Park, G2, and, Year of the Ox. What can your fans expect from this performance?
Something old and something new, and definitely a phenomenal show.
For the newer fans, what is one song that you would recommend they listen to that you think best embodies who you are? And why?
'Stay The Same' because it's a piece of my life.
Lastly, is there anything you would like to share with your fans, old and new, who are reading this interview and are so happy to learn more about you?
Thank you to everyone who's continued to support me and my music. Tons of new tunes headed your way. Love y'all.
Thank you again Junoflo for taking the time to talk with Kpopmap, their readers, and your fans! We hope that you have more success in your career and are staying healthy, both physically and mentally! Best of luck!

Find out about the three locations featured in the latest episode of Dingo Story's "Haebang Taxi" featuring INFINITE's Nam WooHyun.
Dyllan Mykel, Kpopmap EditorDingo Story is a YouTube channel that provides an abundance of warmth throughout any season. They take ordinary people and provide them with the opportunity to meet with their favorite stars in order to gain strength and encouragement. One of their most notable series, "Lean On Me 2023", is currently 28 episodes strong and has had a healing effect on everyone worldwide.
Recently, they embarked on their newest endeavor called "Haebang Taxi". Similar to that of "Lean On Me 2023", stars and fans meet with the celebrity taking their guest on a liberating taxi ride. While there's only two episodes out so far, the most recent one featured INFINITE's Nam WooHyun. Along with his fan, NaYoung, he traveled all across Paju, providing an unforgettable experience of comfort, fun, and relaxation.
If you're curious where exactly they went, check it out down below!
The first location on WooHyun's course was Malddong Doughnut Dessert Town. Just like its name suggests, it boasts a wide collection of delicious treats that match a number of different palettes.
From its famous doughnuts to scoops of gelato, there's no end to the sweet treats available. Even if you have a particular choice in mind, be prepared to spend even more time browsing the shop's delectable collection.
After a nice helping of sweets, he brought NaYoung to the Paju Caravan Camping Grounds.
As they arrived, night was setting, providing the perfect ambience and opportunity to gather around a warm campfire. Just like WooHyun and NaYoung, you can roast marshmallows by the campfire or grill some meat to enjoy while you bask in the calm nature ambiance.
Last on WooHyun's travel course was Paju's very own First Garden.
First Garden is a 66,000-square-meter facility with gorgeous decorations and walking paths. In between viewing the beautiful sights, you can sit down and enjoy some food at a restaurant located on the grounds. At First Garden, be prepared to make unshakable memories that you will hold close to your heart for all eternity.

Here are a few reasons why we just cannot stop listening to INFINITE Nam WooHyun's newest title track, 'Baby Baby'!
Dyllan Mykel, Kpopmap EditorIconic boy group INFINITE made their long awaited group comeback this past July. Their return was met with overwhelming applause and cheers from fans and critics alike. While they managed to retain their distinct color, the veteran group also showcased a distinct evolution, matching well with the trends of the K-Pop scene of today.
Now, another INFINITE member greets fans with a solo comeback of his own: Nam WooHyun. His newest album, "WHITREE," is an 11-track ensemble of meaningful songs that make you feel weightless and filled with warmth. They all sound like the perfect companion for the colder, winter months. Most especially, his title track 'Baby Baby' has been on loop all day long.
Here are a few reasons why we've fallen Nam WooHyun's newest title track!
It was revealed that earlier this year, WooHyun battled with a rare cancer that plagued his body. After undergoing surgery and treatment, he was able to regain his health, making it possible for the singer to stand on stage. The encouragement he received from the nurses, fellow patients, and his beloved family and friends helped him to produce "WHITREE." While 'Baby Baby' doesn't talk about the journey he's had this year, its lighthearted melody serves as an uplifting beacon of hope and the persistence the idol had to never give up.
While the story behind "WHITREE" might be saddening, 'Baby Baby' looks to uplift everyone's mood. At its core is the mesmerizing melodies of 80's city pop. Combined with WooHyun's swoon-worthy vocals, listeners are transported back in time and receive an old-fashioned love song where texts and chatrooms are traded for handwritten letters and romantic mixtapes of old. While not your typical K-Pop track, it's unique qualities make it stand out, leaving behind a noteworthy impression on everyone's heart.
With its upbeat rhythm and sweet lines of romance, 'Baby Baby' needed a MV to match its energy. Filled with nostalgia, it gives the feel of an old school musical playing right before our eyes. In a "Grease" meets K-Pop fashion, the music video for WooHyun's title track is joy-inducing and could have you dancing right out of your seat. One watch certainly won't be enough, so don't be surprised if you end up hitting the replay button a million times over.
