Lee HongGi of FT ISLAND was recently caught up in a sticky situation recently that involved controversial live streamer ChulGu.
ChulGu, an AfreecaTV live streamer who was accused of promoting hate towards women isn't someone any K-Pop idol would like to get mixed up with at the moment. In addition, the live streamer has been under heavy criticism for expressing negativity towards the GwangJu uprising.
Netizens claim Lee HongGi was a subscriber to ChulGu's channel. So far, the FT ISLAND frontman has been denying everything and has even personally begun expressing his disgust at all the netizens that have been making the accusations against him. When netizens demanded an explanation as to why he was a subscriber of ChulGu, he replied saying that there was nothing to explain and that he just happened to view ChulGu's live stream by chance.
After all these events, an online petition to the South Korean government surfaced, requesting the death penalty for Lee HongGi.
According to South Korean media sources, the petition has been taken down due to policy violations involving violence.
