Netizens Share How Difficult It Is To Debut And Succeed As A K-Pop Idol
With the increase in popularity and success in K-Pop, there are many people out there in the world who began to dream of becoming a K-Pop idol. Aside from people who dream of becoming an idol, there are also many entertainment companies who wish to jump into the wagon and held auditions not just in Korea but overseas too.
The competitive nature of the industry showed how many difficult it is to debut and succeed as an idol.
Not long ago, netizens were sharing images of some of the data that was collected online through ‘Pickle’.
The first image shared that there are at least 1,000,000 people who dream of becoming a trainee.
Despite that being said, it is reported that there are only about 1440 trainees tied to an entertainment agency based on 2016 data. This shows it is not easy to enter an entertainment agency as well.
In the year 2015, it was recorded that there are 60 new teams (324 idols) who had debuted and the competition ratio is 3086:1.
This figures show how competitive it is for any one to debut and succeed in the K-Pop industry.
Netizens who had seen the data commented “5 years later, there is going to be more idols than normal citizens in South Korea”.
Some also added on saying that SEVENTEEN had debuted in 2015 and felt glad that they are one of the groups that are still doing well.
Some also believe that it is not just about skills and visuals but also about their luck. Most idols are able to find success through the ‘Big 3’ (SM, JYP, YG).
These days more audition programs such as Mnet “Produce X 101”, MBC “Under Nineteen” and so on had surfaced, giving trainees a chance for debut. With that being said, the market is getting more and more saturated.
