Did you catch the latest episode of Mnet “Queendom” that was aired on Sept. 19?

Viewers were amazed by the difference in images and concepts that the girl groups had performed on stage as compared to the original singers. If you had noticed for this particular episode, Lovelyz  had performed to Brown Eyed Girls ‘Sixth Sense’.

You may be wondering why the girls were covering a song by Brown Eyed Girls instead of the songs of 5 other groups. It was revealed that they received a chance to choose a song that they wish to cover and chose ‘Sixth Sense’.

Let’s take a look at their cover performance below!

Compared to their usual lovely and girl concept, Lovelyz had decided to go for a stronger and powerful girl crush concept.

After their performance, many viewers who had watched their cover shared their opinion online.

The Qoo

One wondered if they had re-arranged the song as it seems similar to the original. The choreography also looked similar and it seemed more like a cover rather than an actual performance. They can tell how they are trying their best with their facial expression but it did not seem right. Another shared that they had made a bad choice in choosing ‘Sixth Sense’ as it was never an easy song to re-arrange. They also felt that they don’t really suit such concepts.

On the other hand, there were also many fans rooting for their ‘Sixth Sense’ performance. They felt that Lovelyz should be given more opportunities to try out mature and dark concept. Some also love how the main vocals had pulled off the high note.

What is your opinion on their performance of ‘Sixth Sense’?

There’s no such thing as going too strong for girl groups, Lovelyz have been stuck doing cutesy infantilising stuff for so many years, they can’t instantly transform their entire style but this is a strong new beginning, let them try something new you cowards!

I think the girls did well anyway but I cant agree it was as strong as the other groups. It was fun to see them do something new besides their usual concept but I think the song didnt really suit them. I think they should’ve opted for a softer girl crush song like RV Peekaboo/Bad Boy, CLC Me or GUGUDAN Not that type. But I was dying to see them cover OMG actually. Was hoping they’d cover Liar Liar and arrange it with something like a mysterious or “horror” concept like RV’s peekaboo or badboy. Anyway congrats to the girls… Read more »
