One of the most anticipated and beloved dramas of 2021, "Nevertheless," has officially signed off with a sweet happy ending. Even though viewers were stressed out for the majority of its run, trying to figure out who Yoo NaBi (played by Han SoHee) would choose as her partner, Park JaeEon (Song Kang) or Yang DoHyeok (Chae JongHyeop), the finale left almost everyone satisfied, especially with the neat conclusions that were drawn for the supporting characters as well as the main characters.

        Spoiler Alert!

There were a number of campus couples in "Nevertheless,". However, the one that caught the eye of viewers the most was that of Yoon Sol (played by Lee HoJung) and Seo JiWan (played by Yoon SeoAh), best friends turned soulmates. Not only was the presence of a sapphic couple a brilliant step towards an increased normalized representation of queer individuals on screen, especially in Korea but the beautifully fleshed out and detailed storyline that was given to this couple truly turned half of the viewers into SolJiWan stans.

The depth of feelings between Yoon Sol and Seo JiWan, the complexities of having a queer relationship or even anticipating one, the impactful confession, and the promise of unchanging love are all the hallmarks of a modern-day fairy tale romance. There were no two ways about the fact that these two were made for each other. Their sincerity, honesty, and strength, as shown by the amazing actresses behind the roles, brought to life an inimitable portrayal of true love.

Such representation is and should be an essential part of mass media that has the potential to reach millions of viewers and change just as many lives. The SolJiWan couple is not just a fictional pair of characters with no real import in society. They are pillars of strength and reassurance for young people going through the same things they did and that is exactly why we need more of this.

        Cheers to our favourite OTP!

With the rather open ending of "Nevertheless," one can hope that there might be a season 2, and even though it is most probably a pipe dream, we definitely deserve a Yoon Sol - Seo JiWan spin-off.
