NU’EST W Hi Touch Event In Japan Canceled Due To Strong Protests From Fans
Pledis Entertainment recently had to make a tough decision to cancel NU’EST W‘s hi touch even in Japan due to the strong protests from fans in South Korea.
The hi touch event was originally scheduled to take place on December 19th up until December 20th.
So why were the fans so intent on making sure that Pledis Entertainment cancels the event in Japan? Well, while it could be guessed that South Korea’s current political tension with Japan, which caused a bit of a setback for K-Pop groups such as BTS and TWICE from promoting in Japan, might have been the reason, NU’EST W fans had a different reason other than that.
What got the fans in protest was incidents that happened to NU’EST W in the past while they were in Japan. Fans contend that the idols were “abused” through excessive touching.
And the way that fans made their feelings and stance clear was quite creative. They posted Post It notes on the entire agency building, writing all the reasons why NU’EST W shouldn’t head over to Japan for the hi touch event.
Pledis Entertainment eventually gave in to the protests and canceled the hi touch event. Upon hearing the news, the fans came back to clean up all the Post It notes from the agency’s building.
