The domestic K-Pop market has become a fierce red ocean, where smaller agencies are pushed into increasingly intense survival battles among major entertainment companies. Amid these tough circumstances, the six-member boy group NCHIVE — who debuted on April 9 last year — shouts “Our dream is a miracle,” aiming to break past the limitations of a small company. An exclusive interview was conducted with them in celebration of their 1st anniversary.
NCHIVE (members: E.aN, Ha.L, KangSan, YuChan, JuYoung, and N) marked their 1st anniversary on April 9 with a Weibo and YouTube live stream and the release of a special single titled “NEVER GIVE UP”. After leaving a strong impression with their debut single “Drive” on April 9, 2024, they’ve returned with unwavering determination. Their new special single, “NEVER GIVE UP”, as the title suggests, conveys a message of perseverance and hope — never giving up no matter the odds.

How do you feel celebrating your 1st debut anniversary?
There were so many moments I felt like giving up, but I’m thankful we endured and are still able to keep going. I want to praise every member of NCHIVE for hanging in there and growing stronger. Let’s keep pushing forward.

Just the fact that it’s been one year since debut makes me so emotional. I wonder how we managed to endure such difficult times. I’m so grateful to our fans, SAVE, who’ve been with us throughout the year. We’ll keep working hard to show you our best selves.

What is the most memorable activity or moment?
Our first music show, my birthday, and the reactions when we uploaded cover songs — those stand out the most.

Definitely our music show promotions after debut. I grew up dreaming while watching music shows, so standing on that stage and performing was nerve-racking but such a happy experience! Also, performing in countries like Korea, Japan, the U.S., Taiwan, and Russia — I’ll never forget the way SAVE looked at us during those shows. Their warm gazes left a deep impression on me.

I think our first fan sign event is most memorable. I remember my hands shaking and stumbling over my words.

What goals or dreams do you hope to achieve this year?
I want to release our 2nd and even 3rd albums this year and show off more of NCHIVE’s diverse charms.

I hope we can release new songs that show a fresh side of us, and that more people get to know NCHIVE. I want us to challenge ourselves musically and expand our spectrum — and grow into a bigger presence than we are now.

I want to make more polished music, and return with a 2nd or 3rd album that includes a solid story unique to NCHIVE. I’d love to meet our fans more often too.
KangSan
I want NCHIVE to grow into a group that our fans can be proud of. I want to create better music and share more with our fans.
YuChan
I want to promote more actively and let more people hear our music this year.
JuYoung
I want us to make a lot of comebacks, meet more fans, and — if possible — win an award at a year-end show!

This album captures NCHIVE’s journey of building unshakable confidence even in difficult times, offering courage and hope to listeners. From their interview, we can feel their struggles, setbacks, and strong determination to rise again — sending a powerful message and revealing their passion for a new leap forward.
At their debut showcase last year, NCHIVE said, “We may not be a big agency, but our hearts are huge,” and shared their dream, “Our practice room is small now, but in 1–2 years, we’ll have a big building.”
Their sincerity and desperate passion recall the early days of BTS, who started under the small company BIGHIT MUSIC and went on to rewrite K-Pop history. Just like their song title, may they never give up and continue taking one step at a time toward their dreams.
People may betray, but sweat and tears never will. Let’s all watch closely to see how far NCHIVE will have come when we interview them again this time next year.
