“LOUD” was an audition program that set out to find unique and creative individuals to create a boy group for the labels JYP Entertainment and P Nation. The slogan for the show is “Boys Be Loud” and it was meant for the contestants to show their “loud” inner thoughts. Park JinYoung mentioned in the first few episodes that the idea that was a driving force for “LOUD” is “Quiet people often have the loudest minds.” “LOUD” consisted of fifteen episodes and PSY and Park JinYoung encouraged the contestants to show off their own “color” and unique talents.  And this is where TNX was born.

        “Boys Be LOUD”

Since TNX started on the “LOUD” audition show we would like to highlight some of our favorite Team P Nation performances.

Starting with their ‘10 Minutes’ performance originally by Lee HyoRi: Team P Nation showed a stage with a relaxed but polished elegance and charm. As they try and convince their crush to give them 10 minutes because, that’s all the time they need to make them fall for their addicting charm and aura.

‘I’m Not Cool’ originally by HyunA: Team P Nation showed a powerful performance with many dance breaks, and light airy but powerful vocals from the singers and strong unique raps from the rappers of the group. The catchy mix with techno sound adds a strong edge to the performance. And HyunA as P Nation’s artist and as their senior lends her powerful confidence to the performance and the team exuded confidence as they shouted, “I’m Not Cool.” Also, HyunA gave the team advice and coached them for this performance and episode.

P Nation members performed in unison to the catchy move part of ‘Move’ by X1 and the continuous beat of the track was the driving force and heart that the members embodied by presenting a consistent, strong, and present performance.

We get to see Team P Nation’s soft side in ‘Behind You’ originally by Park JinYoung and in this performance they promise that they’ll be there for their audience and listeners. The drums add a strong presence and focal point without being overpowering and the simple beat allows the members vulnerable emotion to shine through with their soft and delicate vocals and powerful but pure raw emotion that you can feel in the raps.

Lastly, how could we forget ‘180sec’: which was their first original song made for the group (and is included on their mini album) that wasn’t a cover and it was written by DAMIAN, PENOMECO, and Yoo GeonHyeong. The performance started off as if the members were holding a P Nation press conference which sets the stage with its own unique charm right from the beginning. Also, there is a stopwatch clock counting the time of 180 seconds. '180sec.' is funk at its core and the break in the song makes way for the 180sec long performance. The chorus adds a nice twist with a catchy guitar that almost sounds like a cool snake charming you. And the members highlight this sound and the chorus with their fluid movements in the choreography. This performance is a beautiful dance between swag and a sophisticated funk.

        Way Up” In Review

P Nation New K-Pop Boy Group TNX: The Starter Pack

        TNX Official

The title track on TNX’s 1st mini album “Way Up” which is ‘MOVE’ has a full sound with its drums and horns. And the strong sound only adds to the message that the members have which is that they are not going to back down and that everybody should move out of the way because they can’t be stopped from achieving their dreams.

‘WE ON’ the first song on the mini album has a very old school Hip Hop feel with its heavy bass and pure tone. TNX are clear in their delivery of this song that they are fire and next level. And the way the lyrics are delivered are reminiscent of a rap battle. As they tease their opponents and let them know that they will win because they are the ones to beat.

‘Burst Up’ which uses a flute as the main sound to tie this track together illustrates that the members are already number one even though they just started because there is no one else like them.

Next, ‘180sec’ is a song about how the members only need 180secs to show their unique “color” that will wow you. Wow being their choice key word in this song demonstrating their wow factor as individuals and a group.

Lastly, their song “Your Favorite Melody” gives off laid-back vibes and this is accentuated with the whistling in the intro of the song, and this is highlighted even further with TNX’s relaxed tone as they encourage their THX with the message that no matter how hard it gets it will always be okay.
