Gugil Ttarogukbap (국일따로국밥)

Unlike traditional gukbap (rice soup), the rice and the soup in ttaro gukbap are served separately. It is a speciality in Daegu, and the main dish served at Gugil Ttarogukbap. The restaurant makes the broth with beef bones, and adds spices, meat and coagulated ox blood to complete the rich and flavorful soup. Meanwhile, the restaurant was designated as a site of master craftsmanship by the Korean Traditional Culture Preservation Committee, as well as an authentic local speciality restaurant in Daegu.

Living Old Alleys - Daegu (옛 골목은 살아있다 - 대구 '빼앗긴 들에도 봄은 오는가')

"Living Old Alleys – Daegu, Would Spring Come to the Stolen Field?" is a street performance based on behind stories against a backdrop of Daegu old alleys. The audience can learn about the achievement of the two national heroes, major figures in Korea’s modern history. The performance will serve as a role in making Daegu the emerging cultural city by bringing a life to old valleys and, in turn, highlighting their value and significance.

Pyochungjae Hanok is located in the historical site of General Shin Sunggyeom in Dong-gu, Daegu. It's where General Shin Sunggyeom was killed in a battle against the army of King Gyeon Hwon of the Late Baekje during the reign of King Taejo of Goryeo. He was also one of the founding members of the Goryeo Dynasty. For these reasons, this place is listed as Daegu Monument No. 1. The historical site is conveniently located in the downtown area, from which it’s easy to get to other tourist destinations nearby. The guesthouse is only a 10-minute ride from Daegu International Airport, a 15-minute ride from Donghwasa Temple, a 20-minute ride from Palgongsan Gatbawi Rock, and a 3-minute ride from Downtown Daegu. Village of the Nampyeong Moon Clan (남평문씨본리세거지)

Village of the Nampyeong Moon Clan (남평문씨본리세거지)

Twelve Tablet Pavilion of Hyeonpung Gwak Clan (현풍곽씨십이정려각)

Designated as Daegu’s Cultural Property No. 29 on May 12, 1995, this pavilion was built in the mid-Joseon period, during King Yeongjo's rule. The pavilion houses 12 Jeongnyeo-gak tablets awarded to the members of the Gwak Clan, built from the time of King Seonjo in 1598 to the time of King Yeongjo. It is an important and unique hertiage because the Gwak Clan attained their 12 Jeongnyeo-gak tablat all in one village, which is quite uncommon. During the Joseon Dynasty, Jeongnyeo-gak tablets were awarded to honor loyal retainers, devoted sons, and exemplary husbands and wife.

Suseong Pond Resort (수성못 유원지)

Suseong Pond Resort is located at the foot of the northwest side of Yongjibong Peak (629m) in Beommul-dong and offers outstanding scenery including gentle mountains along with Suseong Pond. The resort is centered around Suseong Pond, established in 1925 with 70,000 pondage in a circumfrence of 2,020m. The total area of the park is 218,000 ㎡. Suseong pond is an artificial pond created in 1925 during Japanese colonial era to supply water for agriculture to rural areas. These days, it is no longer used for agricultural purposes, but has turned into a resting area. Nearby the pond is Suseong Land which houses benches, trees, cruise boarding dock, biking, bumper car, merry-go round and other entertainment facilities. Also, visitors can enjoy a duck-boat, Dusan waterfalls and other exciting places perfect for excursion. Built in September 2007, the music fountain operates from May to October four times a day during the week.

Suseong Artpia (수성아트피아)

Suseong Artpia, opened in May 2007, is a major art center in Daegu. It has specialized, independent spaces for housing performances, exhibitions, and art camps. The art center’s facade was designed to resemble a crane flying away with its wings stretched out in order promote the image of Muhaksan Mountain (named as such because its shape is reminiscent of a flying crane or hak), the mountain on which the center is located. When viewed from the sides however, the center is shaped like a ship, as it was once the site of a large pond. With such an impressive exterior further highlighted by impressive lighting at night, water fountains, and landscaping, Suseong Artpia has become a rising attraction of Daegu. The center is equipped with a mega concert hall that can accommodate diverse genres of performing arts such as an opera, musical, ballet, theater, dance, music concert, and more.

A number of Buddhist temples including Donghwasa, the headquarters of the 9th Buddhist Parish, are located in the area. The park has numerous rocks and valleys and is carpeted with azaleas in the spring. In the autumn many visitors flock to the park to admire the falls leaves on the trees lining the 16.3km-long roadway that runs through the park. With vibrant green leaves in spring and a delicate snowscape in the winter, Palgongsan Mountain is an attractive destination for visitors throughout the year.

Nokdongseowon Confucian Academy (녹동서원)

Nokdongseowon Confucian Academy was built in 1789 in honor of General Kim Chung-seon (1571-1642), who contributed greatly to Korea's defense from the Japanese invasions during the Imjin War (1592-1598). The Academy was shut down in 1864, and reinstated in 1885. Then, in 1972, it was moved to its current location. Today, General Kim's tablet is enshrined in this hall, where a memorial service is held every March. Nearby attractions on the grounds of Nokdongseowon include Nokdongsa Temple, Sunguidang Shrine, Hyangyangmun Gate and Chungjeolgwan Hall, which houses rifles used during the Imjin War, articles left by General Kim, as well as literature on the cultural history of Korea and Japan.

Nakdong River Victory Memorial Hall (낙동강승전기념관)

Nakdonggang River is a winding river that is filled with a great strength to protect the people, providing the wisdom and deep meaning for the country's reunification. Thanks to its geographical advantage, it provided a good distance of ceasefire line between Korean soldiers against its enemies during 6.25 Korean War, helping defeating moreover reducing the casualties. The Nakdong Victory Memorial Hall was built in memory of the victory at the Nakdonggang defense line which was the last fortification to protect the country during the Korean War. The memorial hall was built with private donations from the residents of the Daegu and Gyeongbuk province. Nakdong River Victory Memorial Hall (낙동강승전기념관)

The Museum of Natural Dye Arts is divided into two floors. Ahwon Gallery on the first floor showcases replicas of ancient dyeing tools and provides information on the natural dyeing process. The ‘relic hall’ on the second floor displays pieces of ancient artwork including fabric, clothes, pillows, blankets and accessories, all made using different methods such as dyeing, embroidery, quilting, knotting and sewing. Group visitors of 10 or more may try dyeing handkerchiefs, scarves, or t-shirts through the museum's hands-on experience programs.
