SHINee Key’s Farewell Letter to JongHyun
It’s never easy to let go of someone you stood beside as a friend and colleague for many years. Especially if it’s someone you started from the bottom with.
Following the funeral procession of SHINee member JongHyun, Key has posted a letter he wrote for JongHyun on Instagram. Below is a screenshot of the original letter that was posted on Instagram.
Brother, it’s me KiBum. I just came back from sending you off and even seeing your face again yesterday, I still can’t believe everything that’s happened.
I’m sorry I was a little late, I had some errands to run quickly before coming to your funeral.
But more than anything, I’m sorry I couldn’t be the little brother that you could always lean on during times of loneliness and distress.
It’s funny because you and I are the most stubborn members of our team and we’re both known to be people who have to do what we want to do.
But it was really unfair of you to have made this decision all by yourself and leave first.
At first, it was really hard after all of this. You have no idea. But after spending time with you for three days straight, it was easier for me to relate to how you felt.
You got a headstart but don’t worry. I’ll make sure to take good care of your mother and sister in your place.
I’m really going to miss you for a long time.
I’m kind of worried now that the only person who ever took my side during our group meetings has now left.
Remember our group meetings? We would be the only ones talking really loud with excitement. And that awkward moment when we find out that we’re the only ones talking.
I’m now going to have to try and adjust to your absence and keep my head up in life.
And don’t forget, you also have to tell me that I did well too when I’m old and ready to meet you again!
The greatest artist that ever lived in my lifetime, my dearest and best friend, my brother, and my colleague JongHyun,
I want to tell you that I love you and you did very well.
