SM Entertainment Apologizes For World Map Without Japan In TVXQ MV
After three years, SM Entertainment boy band TVXQ has finally returned to the K-Pop scene with their latest single ‘Love Line‘.
While all of that is good, the same couldn’t really be said for the MV for Love Line. The reason is that a scene in the MV where a woman is informing viewers of a destination shows a map that has Japan deleted off of it.
While it’s true that relations between South Korea and Japan may remain irreconcilable, netizens have been criticizing SM Entertainment for it and have stated that the entertainment industry shouldn’t be involved in politics. Others have additionally stated that TVXQ wouldn’t have anything to gain from this. After all, it could be argued that TVXQ’s popularity just might be potentially bigger in Japan than back at home in South Korea. Their album sales definitely say Japan is a friendlier market for them as well.
Moments after, SM Entertainment released an official apology and immediately reuploaded an updated version which includes Japan on the map. The entertainment also further stated in their apology that the reason for Japan not showing was due to a “CG error’.
After updating the video, Japan could clearly be seen on the map.
