Just recently, iKON member Koo JunHoe was caught up in a controversy after uploading an Instagram post that involved a controversial Japanese film director and actor Kitano Takeshi. The K-Pop idol uploaded a photo of a gift he received from the Japanese artist.
But South Korean fans and netizens were quick to criticize him as Kitano Takeshi is known to have expressed anti-Korean sentiments in the past. Fans requested that he take down his post on social media.
Koo JunHoe initially shot back at fans by asking them not to tell him what to do, but later apologized for it.
After the apology, a Japanese fan wrote "Why can't he be free to express what he likes and dislikes? He has the freedom to express himself."
To this, a South Korean fan replied saying the following below.
The South Korean fan basically told the foreign fan that it was a Korean issue and that it did not concern foreign fans.
