South Korean Netizens Give Points To Ezra Miller For Reacting To “Racist Question”
If you haven’t watched Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, you really should.
Not only do you get to see a dashing young version of Dumbledore, you’ll also get to see various different Harry Potter characters that were only talked about in the story line that we know. And South Korean actress SooHyun‘s role as ‘Nagini‘ is simply sublime.
However, it seems that racism has been a key issue that people have been linking with the recent film.
First it was J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series (not that she needs an introduction of course), who was under criticism for selecting a Korean woman to play a villainous snake in its human form while also becoming a pet to a white man later on down the road.
And now just recently, it turns out that journalist Kjersti Flaa was also being criticized for having a “racist attitude” towards actress SooHyun.
During the interview, SooHyun explained how she first got into the Harry Potter book series as a child. She stated that her father’s friend sent her the book series for her to read during her middle school years.. But the next part was what triggered some people. Kjersti Flaa asked if she read the book in English and if she was able to speak English at the time.
Then Ezra Miller stepped in and stated that SooHyun spoke English well and that while he was only fluent in one language, she was good at both English and Korean.
