While we hoped that never again would anyone be driven in to a difficult place in life that results in taking one’s own life, the K-Pop community is currently lost for words at the tragic death of K-Pop idol Sulli.

The Seongnam Sujeong Police Station have confirmed that Sulli had committed suicide at some time around 3:21 PM KST.

Officials have stated that the idol was suffering from severe depression. According to various reports, she hanged herself from the second floor of her home.

SM Entertainment has not yet responded to the current tragedy.

It’s unfortunate that South Koreans have such unhealthy beauty standards. How many more idols have to suffer before they realize that their society needs to change? I admire the work ethic of the Koreans and many of their values. They value beautiful things such as innocence and cheerfulness but they think that one’s outer appearance should reflect these things in a way that is near impossible to obtain. The idol-worshipping culture in South Korea is a product of a society that values perfection and beauty above real down-to-earth happiness and good mental health. I pray a new trend takes over… Read more »

Sulli did not in ANY WAY deserve this! She got criticism for almost anything she did, it’s like she wasn’t allowed to live and took that to heart! To everyone who left a nasty comment about her or anything, are you happy now!? Are you happy that you are responsible for the death of a person!? A bunch of losers that couldn’t just leave her alone and look what you did! After her all I can hope is that companies change how to help their idols and all I can say is RIP, Sulli, as well as #SaveOurIdols! I’m scared… Read more »

Y’all I feel for her. She did not deserve the hate she got. She reached her breaking point and I am so so sad that she had to. She got tired. She broke. This should be a wake up call to the Kpop industry. 2 suicides in 2 years. That’s not okay. I pray for her loved ones but something needs to be done. As for Sulli and Jonghyun, rest easy angels. You can relax now.

Oh my god! This is terrible. I just hate that people have to go trough a lot just because they want to be artists in South-Korea. It is also a shame that mental health problems are still tabus, however mental health is as important as physical health. It is also damn fcked up that if idols do something bad, or not even anything bad but something which their audience don’t like (if you cut your hair for example), than they have to apologise, but sasaengs and haters never do the same. RIP!?

Idky she just didn’t stop using social media if it was causing her pain, if your hand gets too close to heat you take it away. Maybe it was something else entirely
