Each member has captivated fans’ hearts with their unique talents, and in this article, we’re diving deep into the versatile and colorful world of member Eugene.
The first thing you notice about SUPERKIND's Eugene is just how strikingly beautiful he is and the otherworldly aura that surrounds him. Before we knew him as Eugene of SUPERKIND, though, Gil GiSung (Eugene's real name) was a trainee for four years, working relentlessly towards his dream. He enjoys cooking for his dongsaengs, watches out for them, and holds everyone together like a family. However, along with this mature and reliable side, Eugene also has a cute and adorable side that we just can’t get enough of!
Whether it be his spontaneous bursts of sass or natural flow of aegyo, his shy smiles, or his playful quirks, Eugene’s personality is filled with unpredictable charms that steal PLAYERs’ hearts. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that he is like the real-life “Little Prince” - brimming with the desire to learn and discover new worlds through the medium of art. Perhaps that would explain how his presence is simply out of this world!
Notably, even Eugene’s role model is as cute as it gets - Judy Hopps from “Zootopia!”. A new entry into the league of all-rounders in K-Pop, SUPERKIND’s Eugene is quickly becoming an ace to look out for. While his official positions are said to be rapper and vocalist, Eugene is also an excellent songwriter, an incredible dancer, and from what we’ve seen so far, a potential future acting genius!
In terms of Eugene’s vocal duality - the binary becomes evident when you notice just how versatile he is both as a singer and a rapper. His deep voice is charismatic, but what is even more impressive is how he can switch between different registers and tones to fit the song at hand.
Eugene has the rare ability to make his deep voice sound soft and gentle but also powerful and resounding when need be. As a rapper, he doesn’t hesitate to try different flows but maintains his unique style. As a vocalist, he adapts to the essence of the song and delivers just the right amount of warmth or edge to bring out the best in it.
For instance, in ‘Watch Out’, Eugene goes for a more rugged, dark, and intense style to convey the fierce anthemic spirit of the song. However, in ‘Moody’, Eugene employs a higher pitch and a lighter tone to play his role as both a vocalist/rapper and an actor.
What Eugene does is express himself as Gil GiSung of Kiseung High not only through the music video but with the song itself, thus amplifying the immersion of the experience manifold. SUPERKIND's "Selfie King", a.k.a "Selfie Monster" Eugene knows his duality and flaunts it too! Despite being known for taking many selfies, no two are ever the same. He can be adorable with his classic smile but also mysterious with his piercing gaze. In one moment, he has a boyish vibe and in the next, he's the perfect bad boy from a romance manhwa. Even if he isn't trying to pose, just a tilt of the chin or an eye smile is enough to switch up the vibe of the photo entirely.
When it comes to Eugene's aesthetic duality, visuals are not the only aspect. In fact, Eugene expresses his duality through his fashion too! While his personal style leans more towards a comfy, casual "soft boy" concept, he can equally pull off a rocker or dark academia aesthetic with ease. Eugene looks just as good in pearls as he does in chokers and just as handsome in boyfriend material cardigans as he does in leather jackets and chains. Similarly, as much as his blonde hair is magical, his orange hair is just out of this world.
