Swing Entertainment Responds To Wanna One Comeback Controversy, Contends Idea Is “Universal”
Wanna One‘s recent comeback teasers have been getting quite a bit of negative attention after notions that it “borrowed” and misinterpreted John Cameron Mitchell‘s themes from his renowned musical ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch’ began surfacing online.
However, Swing Entertainment released an official statement regarding this matter.
They stated that like John Cameron Mitchell’s ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch’, the comeback concept was based on an “idea” inspired by a universal value, and that the origin of love can be reinterpreted in different ways. In addition, they mentioned that the concept was first introduced in Plato’s book ‘Symposium’.
While there are no current legal consequences that the agency would face, it has been a pressing concern for fans as the comeback is in the midst of bad publicity and also because this comeback is most likely the group’s final comeback before they disband by the end of this year.
