The saying that you shouldn't believe everything you read or hear through the media turns out to be even truer this time.
Just recently, Yang HyunSuk, CEO of YG Entertainment and the head judge of the idol reality audition program MIXNINE was under heavy fire from South Korean netizens for his condescending attitude towards Kim SoRi. He was shown on MIXNINE making fun of the fact that she was too old to be an idol at twenty-eight years of age and hinted to her that she should consider retiring after failing to make a breakthrough. However, here is the surprise of the century. It turns out good old YG wasn't exactly the cold-hearted villain that he has been depicted as on MIXNINE.
SoRi has revealed that the video editors of MIXNINE intentionally made YG look much worse than he is by editing out the part where he said to her "You look very young for your age!"
"CEO Yang HyunSuk has been unfairly portrayed through bad video editing."
"It's true that he did talk about my age on the program."
"But he also did say that I look more like twenty-two than twenty-eight."
Yang HyunSuk may be genuinely straight up cold and difficult at times, but he does have the skill, experience, and resources to turn idols into big stars, especially to the ones he's hard on. But just before we consider forgiving YG for being so hard on poor SoRi, we should really ask ourselves again about whether we can believe anything through the media these days. What do you guys think?
