TXT Hueningkai & SooBin Prank YeonJun By Disregarding Honorific Title ‘Hyung’
The boys of TXT are very child-like yet adorable when it comes to playing around with each other. After all, they are the young princes of the next generation of K-Pop and it’s natural for them to act their age.
During a recent event, Hueningkai and SooBin cleverly took advantage of a fan letter to YeonJun.
In South Korea, the term ‘hyung’ is used by males to address older males. So it would be natural for all the members of TXT to address YeonJun as ‘hyung’ since he is the oldest member of the group. And it is very uncommon, even disrespectful in a different context and setting for a younger male to address an older male as something other than ‘hyung’ unless permitted by the older male.
But that’s another story that you can learn about in Korean culture class.
Moving on to the point, Hueningkai was reading aloud a fan letter which addressed YeonJun as, “YeonJun-ah”, an expression used by people of the same age between each other. So as you can already guess, Hueningkai read the letter out loud as if he was actually disregarding the honorific form of ‘hyung’ when addressing YeonJun.
SooBin quickly understood what Hueningkai was scheming and joined in as well.
You can catch Hueninkai cracking up at the end in the video below.
