Consistency is vital for K-Pop idol groups to succeed. Part of the reason is because it steadily meets the demands of fans and consumers. Without consistency, frustration begins to breed and eventually leads to irrelevance.
YG Entertainment is notorious for being the perfect example of such cases, earning the agency the nickname of ‘the basement’, where idols are locked up without being able to release new contents for their fans.
SM Entertainment‘s girl group f(x) has been inactive as a group for quite a long time up until now and one can’t help but wonder if a comeback will mean anything. The name definitely rings a bell for K-Pop consumers but the same can’t be said for their relevance in today’s K-Pop scene. They’ve been anything but consistent as individual members have been busy with their individual activities, notably Victoria, and SM Entertainment just seems to be preoccupied with other groups.
Many K-Pop fans on various online communities have stated that their return has been delayed much too long to be welcomed with open arms.
Of course, fans absolutely dislike the idea that f(x) have been ditched by their own agency and the members are better off being active as solo idols as some K-Pop fans on online communities suggest.
But the members are now well beyond their prime years and they haven’t had any presence in the scene during recent times.
Should SM Entertainment revive the once popular girl group?
