With the end of the year fast approaching, it's natural to wonder what 2023 has in store for us, especially for the famous group BTS. Indeed, now that the oldest member, Jin, began his military service on December 13, the group's future looks bleak. But is this really the case?

Please find the reasons below that make us believe that BTS still has a bright future ahead of it!

        1. RM

RM recently released a solo album, "Indigo," an album he describes as "last archive of my 20s." This album is very special, since out of ten songs, eight are in collaboration with other artists. In it, it is possible to explore the various themes that define the young men's 20s, such as death, life, creativity, loneliness, forgetfulness, and loss. Moreover, he released in September a solo photobook ("Entirety"), enlightening his passion for nature and serenity, embodying perfectly the word "namjooning", that ARMY created to describe taking time to relax and think, to help us connect with nature, something RM does on a daily basis. He's also a host on the TV show "The Dictionary of Useless Human Knowledge".

Next year, as the leader of BTS has already released his album, we can expect a military enlistment, probably after the 2023 GRAMMYs, taking place on the 5th of February. Indeed, the group received nominations in three categories, including best music video for their song 'Yet to Come'. As the main English speaker in BTS, RM should be present during this important event. In addition, some people speculated he might release a second album...

        2. Suga

Following the tradition started by JungKook, Suga is expected to release a solo photobook on his birthday, 9th of March. We might also expect the revealed of his friendship tattoo, as being the only member who hasn't shown it yet on social media. Recently, V showed his on his tight, during his vacation in Mexico right before Jin's enlistment. Suga should also release a solo album before his departure, and he also does some woodworking from time to time as his vlog proved it.

Regarding his military enlistment, Suga is expected to work as a social service agent, the only one in BTS who will probably do so (this is yet to be confirmed). As probably the next one to enlist after Jin, he received an exemption due to health issue regarding his shoulder. This information wasn't confirmed by HYBE, but several newspapers are already spreading the news.

        3. J-Hope

J-Hope already achieved a lot of solo projects in the last half of 2022, but his futur seems even brighter. Lollapalooza music festival this summer was like a solo concert he done by himself, and his solo album "Jack in the Box" received positive reviews around the planet.

In addition, he had a featuring with the singer Crush after his album release, meaning that we might expect even more collaborations in 2023!

        4. JiMin

JiMin should release a long-awaited solo album, already hitting a few collaborations on his personal Instagram. He wants to have a "rawer" image for his solo work, even more "dark" as he used to showcase until now. Even in his solo photobook, he explored different sides of his personality, between sensuality and sensitivity.

Also, he talked several times in the past about wanting RM to write a song for him. Even though he already achieved his dream with 'Serendipity', we can expect BTS' producers' line (RM, Suga, J-hope) to be present in his futur album.

        5. V

V will release his first solo photobook next week, for his birthday. Concerning his solo album, he might be one of the most perfectionist members. Indeed, he promised a mixtape to ARMY for a long time, but kept pushing it back because he wasn't sure the overall flow was good, and the same thing is happening to his album. He will only release it when he's proud of it, and sure it reaches his high expectations, not to disappoint his fans.

He's a fan of jazz, as we already talked about in this article, so we might expect a jazzy vibe, or he might totally surprise us as well. He might dedicate the new year to practice even more and become an expert of playing the trumpet. He also took part in Celine's spring/summer 2023 show in Paris, so maybe he'll work more in the fashion industry.

        6. JungKook

JungKook might be the last one to enlist, being the youngest of the group. But he already achieved a lot, releasing a solo photobook on his birthday, and opening the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 with the song 'Dreamers', the first Korean to do so. As one of the BTS's members who collaborates the most, his solo album might sound just like RM's! Moreover, Jungkook recently got a motorbike licence after his 25th birthday in September. He can drive up to 125cc, and fans cannot wait to see him driving around Seoul and South Korea.

BTS promised they will come back by the end of 2025. To have a comeback in 2025, the members should enlist between July 2023 and June 2024 to be able to be discharged between January and December 2025. Let's hope for the best, as they should all enlist by July 2023! Until Jungkook's enlistment, he might then enjoy his life more with his dog Bam, and probably keep going on doing sports, such as boxing.

        7. Jin

Jin recently started his military service and should be out in June 2024. He will then have some time to do some other solo work until the group reunion if he wants to, but in the present time, he will probably give ARMY updates about his life in the military. Indeed, from July 2020, soldiers are allowed to use their phones inside barracks while they were not on duty. But first, men should serve some weeks in bootcamp and during that time, they cannot use any electronic device. ARMY should be patient before hearing from BTS' oldest member!

In adition, chef Baek JongWon declared during an interview that “Jin is preparing a brewery under his name,” something the young men will probably work on after his release.

        8. BTS

As a group, the members might actually be able to perform during their mandatory service! Indeed, the Defence Minister Lee JongSup declared: "Even if they join the military, there would be a way to give them a chance to practice and perform together if there are scheduled concerts abroad." (Seventeen). A new movie about the group will also be released in the theater! Called "Yet to Come in Cinemas", it will focus on the concert they did in Busan for free in October. Fans will be able to (re) discovers the concert, backstage and some other cut. To see it, ARMY only have to wait until the 1st of February!
