Some K-Pop fans might ask, so what other audition programs can they expect in the future?

For long time K-Pop fans, some might have noticed that Mnet had started a frenzy of audition and K-Pop idol survival programs around 2016. The famous "Produce" series which gave birth to I.O.I, Wanna One, IZ*ONE and X1.

Other audition programs by Mnet also included "Boys24" and "Idol School".

After which, other broadcasting channels such as KBS had also come up with "The Unit" that give already debuted idols who did not find fame a second chance. UNB and UNI.T were given a chance to promote and show off their talents once again.

And then there was also "Under Nineteen" from MBC that debuted 1THE9 and so on.

Soon enough, some viewers might notice that these shows are getting repetitive since the concept is somewhat similar.

Perhaps this was when Mnet looked at a different angle and came up with "Queendom," "Road To Kingdom" and "KINGDOM: LEGENDARY WAR". They had existing and active K-Pop groups come together and undergo friendly competition for the throne.

The idea was fresh but at the same time, cruel for the groups to go through survival shows as many K-Pop fans had mentioned.

Through the show, it gave the idols an idea of what they are lacking in and what they are good at as a group.

Now that the show is over, many are wondering if any producers can come with fresh and engaging ideas for survival shows that will draw the attention of global fans.

Some would point out an upcoming audition program by SM Entertainment with MGM Worldwide Television Group. Both had teamed up for the search of suitable members for NCT Hollywood.

Another trend of survival shows spotted is how they are getting more global.

There is the upcoming "Girls Planet 999" by Mnet and they recruited participants from three different counties, South Korea, Japan and China.

They had released more information and mentioned that they are set to premiere the new audition program in August.

It appears that the current trend of audition programs are shifting towards the global scale and producers would have to find a way to include the opinions of all K-Pop lovers across the world. For example, K-Pop fans watching the "Produce" series were not able to vote but for "KINGDOM: LEGENDARY WAR", they were able to vote.

Adding on, they would also have to come up with more interesting content that is yet to be seen in the K-Pop scene.
