K-Pop survival show “Under 15” is making headlines prior to its release. It aims to discover talented kids ages 8–15 who have what it takes to be K-Pop idols! What makes the show even more interesting is that it comes from the creator of reality shows that discovered renowned singers Lim YoungWoong and Song GaIn.

What is “Under 15”?

Billed as the First Global K-Pop Young Prodigy Discovery Project, “Under 15” is not your typical K-Pop survival show. The audition-based program aims to form a powerhouse fifth-generation girl group that will set a new standard for the K-Pop industry.

The trainees are selected through intense preliminary auditions held across South Korea, Japan, Thailand, and Hong Kong within six months and are competing for their dream debut.

 

The Battle Begins: Who’s Getting Notice?

A peek at the competition has already caused a lot of hype. The official Instagram page and YouTube channel of CreA Studio and MBN released teasers showing talents and beauty of the aspirants.

With the release of the trainees’ profile photos, the internet just blew up. Among the 59 contestants, a few have already made headlines:

Anyapan

Anyapan from Thailand was born in 2010 and is already catching the hearts of K-Pop fans. She already garnered 1,487 likes on her first profile. Her position is marked as multi. Thai fans are already supporting her through comments, and her beauty has won over many Korean and foreign fans. On her latest “Under 15” profile, I ♥ KOREA! 태국의 리틀 리사 was written, which means I love Korea! Thailand’s Little Lisa.

 

Ingfah

The second highest “Under 15” profile likes is the Thai trainee Ingfah with 1,315 likes. She was born in 2013 and has the position of vocalist. On her profile, it is said that she has a “Thai voice fairy with the voice of an angel” (천사의 목소리를 가진 태국 음색 요정). She also enjoys tremendous support from Thai audiences.

 

Kim Seol

Kim Seol, best known for her role as JinJu in the hit K-Drama “Reply 1988,” surprised netizens with her grown-up appearance. She already got the support of many Korean fans with 1,185 likes on her profile. Her position is marked as multi, and it catches the eye as it says, “Child Actress’ Girl Group Challenge,” on her profile. Kim Seol was born in 2011.

 

Kim YunJi

Kim YunJi is also getting attention from fans with 1,009 likes on her profile. She is a multi-position trainee who ranked first place in the end-of-month evaluation, according to her profile. She was training for eight years to be in a K-Pop girl group. The promising K-Pop idol was born in 2009.

 

Jung ChoHa

This 2013-born trainee, Jung ChoHa, is receiving love from Korean and international fans with 996 likes. Like the other four, she has multiple positions. According to her profile, she is a “Confidence Idol” with a “U-Go-idol” spirit.

Although these five contestants have received most of the attention thus far, all 59 “Under 15” trainees are bursting with potential—so this is really a competition where anything can happen.
