One thing that Korea is known for are its K-Dramas, which have reached global audiences, so it makes sense that Koreans, like most any other people, enjoy consuming movies, TV programs, and YouTube videos. But how do their preferences stack up against each other? And who watches what?

The Korea Culture and Tourism Institute answered these questions with their new report "Content Industry Trend Brief No. 24-2" released on March 12th. Through surveys, they find out what Koreans consume on OTT (streaming services), television, and YouTube in general, by gender, and by age. The data of their survey was based on 2,000 men and women aged 20 to 64 in Korea who allocated gender, age, and region in proportion to the population. They answered web questionnaires between December 8, 2023, and December 12, 2023.
