"KCON" Expands Global Reach With First-Ever Stop In Hong Kong, And More In Store For 2024

In a major announcement made last week, CJ ENM unveiled plans for the 2024 edition of "KCON," the world's leading K-Pop and K-Culture festival. Making waves in the K-Pop community, "KCON" is set to mark its debut in Hong Kong this year.

Titled "KCON HONG KONG 2024," the event is scheduled to kick off at AsiaWorld-Expo on Saturday, March 30th, and Sunday, March 31st. The venue, with a capacity of approximately 10,000, will transform into a dynamic space hosting concerts and a comprehensive convention featuring exhibitor booths covering diverse facets of Korean culture. Interestingly, AsiaWorld-Expo previously served as the venue for the prestigious "MAMA AWARDS" from 2013 to 2018, adding historical significance to "KCON"'s first show in Hong Kong.

Beyond Hong Kong, CJ ENM disclosed dates for other "KCON" 2024 locations:

"KCON JAPAN 2024": May 10th to 12th

"KCON LA 2024": July 26th to 28th

The ambitious 2024 schedule positions "KCON" to visit five locations, the most in a single calendar year. In addition to Japan and the United States, "KCON" has its sights set on expanding its footprint to Europe and Saudi Arabia in the latter half of the year, targeting the growing K-Pop fandom in these regions.

With a strategic vision to enhance the overall festival experience, "KCON" is planning to explore larger venues, enabling stronger production values that foster closer interactions between artists and fans. The festival aims to solidify its standing as the go-to global K-Pop event, offering a diverse range of content and special programming tailored for K-Pop enthusiasts.

"KCON", a key player in the global dissemination of K-Pop, seamlessly combines expertly curated K-Pop concerts with a convention that immerses fans in various aspects of Korean culture. Originating in the United States in 2012, "KCON" has since graced countries such as Japan, the United Arab Emirates, France, Mexico, Australia, Thailand, and Saudi Arabia. Over the past 12 years, it has garnered an impressive attendance figure of approximately 1.65 million across nine countries.

"KCON" has not only promoted artists’ global expansion, but also led small and medium-sized businesses to advance overseas, and has become a festival venue where K-Culture and K-Lifestyle can be promoted and experienced. As the platform that unites and interacts with global K-Pop fans, "KCON" this year will continue building on its legacy as a K-Pop festival that reflects K-Pop’s current status and proposes newness.

The previous year witnessed "KCON"'s successful tour across Thailand, Japan, Los Angeles, and Saudi Arabia, with "KCON LA 2023" standing out as one of its most significant events. Boasting three full shows over the festival weekend, it set attendance records, firmly establishing "KCON" as a cultural phenomenon with an ever-expanding global footprint.
