K-Pop Fan Tips: Ways K-Pop Fans Celebrate Idols Birthday Part 2 - Donations And Gifts

Being a new K-Pop fan can be tough sometimes as there are just so many contents to catch up and things to know. If you have just started your journey as a K-Pop fan, we would first of all welcome you into the community.

Last week, Kpopmap had touched on the 1st part of how K-Pop fans celebrate their favorite idols' birthday. Today, we will be sharing some of the different things fans do and prepare such as contributing back to the society to celebrate their birthday. Some of the more common events are volunteer work and also presenting them with gifts.

#1 Volunteer work

Volunteer work comes in various forms and it is something that everyone can participate in! To give a brief outline, some of the volunteer work includes planting trees, donating blood or even picking up litter along the beach. They would do this under the name of the K-Pop idol.

For events such as blood donation, some Korean fansites had also collaborated with the Korean Red Cross to assist the volunteer work. After completing such activities, many fans also find a sense of fulfillment.

#2 Monetary donation

Aside from volunteer work, fans also donate money to various organizations under the name of their favorite idols. NGOs, UNICEF and so on are some of the organizations that fans tend to work with.

In Korea, it is common to see fans donating money to organizations that help to provide daily necessities for those in need. Especially in winter, fans also contribute in providing coal briquettes to the lower income families.

#3 Gifts

It is getting more and more common these days that fans are pampering K-Pop idols with luxury gifts. Ranging from branded clothes, shoes, jewelry to even bed sheets, fans are going all the way to ensure that their idols are treated the best.

It was also noted by some fans that several K-Pop idols had mentioned that they prefer their fans to give back to the society rather than shower them with expensive gifts. Although some might disapprove the way some fans behaviour, others also mentioned that it is their money so they have the right to do anything they want with it.

There are also some companies which announced that the idols will stop receiving gifts through an official notice. Most of the time, they will only accept handwritten letters.

All in all, with or without present, the best thing that K-Pop fans can give idols is their endless support and never ending love for them.
