Kpopmap Fan Interview: A French EXO-L Talks About Her Favorite Group EXO And Her Bias BaekHyun

There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other' stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other.

So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.

Admin T of the EXO fanbase called EXO-L YouTube Team, is the next fan to answer our questions. She is a fan of EXO, and particularly of BaekHyun. Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more!

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

Hello! I am Admin T from France. I've been an EXO-L since 2018.

How and when did you enter the fandom?

I entered the fandom by discovering their sub-unit EXO-CBX during 2018’s 'Blooming Day' comeback era. That led me to the main group afterwards and since then I’ve been an unconditional fan.

What are the reasons why you love your favorite artist?

The fact that their unique voices match perfectly well together, the fact that they can excel in every music genre and the energy they exude as a group are the main reasons why I love EXO. Also the connection they have, within the members and with the fans.

Who caught your attention at first and why?

XiuMin. I can’t say anything else, but his eyes. They were the most memorable eyes I’d ever seen and I was really mesmerised. Then his soft voice made me even more interested in him.

Who is your bias, and why?

BaekHyun. His personality really caught my attention after a while and I just think he is (like the rest of the members) a total package of talent and charisma. He can pull off everything basically. His antics make me laugh the most, I think that’s why in the end I consider him my first bias. ChanYeol and Lay come close second and third. But who am I kidding? All the members have a loveable point that makes me adore them so I don’t even think a ranking is realistic. They are all wreckers!

Which song by them caught your attention at first and why?

'Artificial Love', because the upbeat rhythm and the chorus got into my head really fast and I remember listening to it on loop and wanting to discover more.

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

I recommend 'Obsession' for title track, and 'White Noise' for B-side track.

Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your favorite artist to our readers?

EXO Arcade 1 and 2, because you’ll be able to get to know their personalities and chemistry as a group better.

Also, another must watch among the members'contents is their variety show called “Travelling the World on EXO’s Ladder” currently with three seasons.

Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics?

“In this dangerous journey, obstacles keep coming, but we’ve become one and have overcome everything.”

Are there any quotes by your favourite artist that you would like to share?

““Even if we’re reborn, let’s meet as EXO and EXO-L again.”.

What kind of influence has your favourite artist had on your daily life?

There are too many influences in my daily life when it comes to EXO but the two most important are the motivation they bring me and the mood lifting role they have for me: whenever I feel down, I just need to watch their content and I’ll be smiling again in no time.

For you, what is your bias' best stage outfits until now? Please share a picture or fan cam.

For me, one of the most iconic EXO looks has to be the plain back or white ensemble with each member’s number embroidered in the turtleneck from 'Monster'/'Lucky One' era (all the members have a number that represents them, it’s a favourite number they chose and it’s related to their birthdays or other special meanings, and it’s been used throughout EXO’s career, in the back of baseball jerseys and other type of outfits). It’s simple, yet so irresistibly elegant.

What is your biggest dream for your favorite group/bias aside from being happy and healthy?

I wish for them to be able to stand on a stage as a 9-member group finally reunited.

If you go to only one, would you go to a concert, fan meeting, or fan sign?

Without any doubt, I would go to a concert. It’s an experience I would absolutely do everything in my power to live one day.

Would you like to see your bias group in variety shows? What type of variety show would you like them to do?

I would love to see EXO members in a variety show that makes them interact with animals (for example KBS’ “Dogs Are Incredible”). But any type of variety show that includes games and competition would be perfect because it really suits their liking and it’s when they have the most fun. I would also like them to participate on a show where they could collaborate with other artists of their choice to create music (for example KBS’ “Hyena on the Keyboard”).

What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying?

I love it when there's new music release- the anticipation before a comeback and seeing them with a new concept. Hands trembling, heart pounding, dry mouth- that feeling when you are about to check out the new song on YouTube for the first time is the best.

Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite artist from other fans (non-fans)?

There are a lot of misunderstandings and it’s a shame that people would rather believe in whatever claims/rumours they will find on the internet, spread by malicious people, rather than doing some research and creating an opinion by themselves.

Admin T's message for EXO:

We will keep on working hard for EXO and EXO-Ls. My only wish is for my idols and co-fandom happiness, especially since we went through a lot during these 10 years of EXO in the industry. I love our 9 members and I love my fandom. We are one, always. Saranghaja.
