Kpopmap Fan Interview: An American P1ece Talks About Her Favorite Group P1Harmony And Her Bias JiUng

There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’ stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other.

So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.

 

Lian is the next fan to answer our questions. She is from the US and and is a fan of P1Harmony, and particulary of JiUng.  Check out how she entered the fandoms, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more!

 

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

My name is Lian and I am from Minneapolis. I grew up in California and my pronouns are she/her. I am also 20 years old. I ALSO have been a K-Pop fan since 2017. So I think it is amazing how long I have been entangled in K-Pop. But I am NOT complaining!!!! I love it here.

 

How and when did you enter the fandom?

I was scrolling on TikTok and found a fancam of P1Harmony dancing to ‘Rainism’ and I was immediately smitten. They were so cute and so so so so energetic in the relay dance so I felt I just HAD to find out who they were. And here I am almost a year and a half later… STILL WHIPPED FOR THEM.

 

What are the reasons why you love your favorite groups?

I love P1Harmony because they make me feel like I’m home. I feel so comfortable and accepted when I listen to their music and watch their videos. They are really close to my age and it feels like it was meant to be. I always thought how cute it was that most P1ece are in the age range of P1Harmony. It is almost like we get to grow up with them.

 

Who caught your attention at first and why?

InTak caught my attention first for sure. He is very charismatic and a performer so I was immediately drawn in. His movements on stage were very sharp and I could just TELL he was a trained dancer. And his rapping skills just… well they blew me away.

 

Who is your bias, and why?

My bias NOW is JiUng. I love all the members of course. You could almost say that I am OT6, but if I had to choose, I would choose JiUng. JiUng and I share the same birthday, which I thought was cool. Like how many opportunities do you get to say your favorite person was born the same day as you? Also, he reminds me of myself the most. Just very like… I don’t even know how to describe it. But we are very unique people if that makes sense. He is also so so talented. You could call him the ace of P1Harmony.(Even though they are all aces!!!)

 

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

All their title tracks are good. It really depends on your taste for music. But if I had to recommend a title track, I recommend ‘Scared’ for new fans. It’s really an interesting beat and the dance is spectacular. I swear after one listen you will be saying “겁나니” over and over again.

 

For B-side, I would recommend ‘Butterfly’ or ‘AYAYA’. Both are completely different vibes. But I recommend both because you see the variety of the music that P1Harmony puts out.

 

 

 

Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers?

As for the individual content of my bias, I recommend the cover that JiUng did of the song ‘Killing Me’ by iKON. I watch that cover like everyday. Like a true chocochip (a JiUng stan), I love everything that JiUng puts out, even his songs on Soundcloud. But something about this dance cover had me in shambles.

 

Can you also do the same type of recommendation for the group?

As for something for the group, I love their cover of ‘good 4 u’. It is such a good aesthetic for me. KeeHo and Theo’s vocals had me through the roof. Seob (JongSeob) and InTak’s little rap parts were… just wow. JiUng and Soul literally pulled off the concept so well. It is just so so so good.

 

Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics?

For my favorite lyrics, my favorite P1Harmony song is ‘If You Call Me’. So my fave lyrics from that song are, “If you call me a fool then I’ll be a fool”. It just is so good. That song in its self is genius. The lyrics make me feel like I am being serenaded. The guitar riff… PLEASE, IT IS SO GOOD. Also, hearing “Left side, back it up” in ‘Follow Me’ gets me pretty hyped. ESPECIALLY at the concert. It is just so fun.

 

What is your favorite group/bias’ influence on your daily life?

P1Harmony pushes me to think positively about everything that life throws at me. And I always strive to do that everyday because of them. I feel that people often forget that it is okay to go through some tough experiences and to not blame themselves, you know what I mean? I feel that everyone needs to just think about it for 10 seconds, forget about it, then listen to ‘Pyramid’ by P1Harmony, BECAUSE YOU ARE AND ALWAYS WILL BE ON TOP OF THE PYRAMID!!!!!

 

What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying?

My favorite part of being a P1ece is being able to talk about my faves all day and people just understand me. We all go crazy over the same people so it’s nice to be able to say the same thing over and over and still be understood. Like I could tweet “JiUng” and everyone would just understand. Also I feel that in P1ece Twitter everyone knows each other and it is so fun to have friends like that.

 

Can you recall a moment where you cried/laughed with your bias?

When I was at the concert and P1Harmony were giving their final speeches before the end of the show I felt so so present in that moment. Even though there were like thousands of fans in there, it felt like P1Harmony were connecting with each of their fans like specifically if that makes sense? So whenever they cracked a joke I literally lost it everytime. And when they teared up I teared up so so so intensely.

 

What is one thing that you think is unique about your bias/bias group?

I think the way that P1Harmony debuted was really unique. It is one thing to have a really good storyline with your debut music video. But P1Harmony had a whole feature length film to go along with it. And also I like how I can see the storyline within almost every one of the songs they put out. They really are sticking to their storyline which is nice to see. I am hoping to see maybe a second movie from P1Harmony in the future I think that would be fun to see more of their lore unfold!!!

 

What is your 2022 prediction for your favourite idol?

I believe P1Harmony will get their first win this year!!! They deserve it. They are putting out some really really good music as of late. And I sense they have another comeback soon so I’m just so so excited to hear what they have to offer. And I can just SENSE that they will get their first win this year. They deserve it so so much :((((

 

What about your bias do you relate to the most?

I am a person that is kind of uncomfortable with like physical touch and everything. So when I found out that JiUng is not the biggest fan of hugs and everything, it just made me feel like… more seen if that makes sense? I feel like it’s okay to not seek out physical touch and people to still know how much I love and appreciate them. So finding out JiUng is kind of like that made me happy.

 

If you go to only one, would you go to a concert, fan meeting, or fan sign?

I would personally choose a concert. Not only for the fact that it is absolutely unbelievable to see your favorite artist in person, but also the fan aspect of it. The whole reason I like to be in stan culture, and more specifically a P1ece is because of meeting the fans. I met some of my best friends through K-Pop and P1Harmony specifically. And standing in line with them for hours talking about our favorite songs, bias, and hyping each other up was so enjoyable. I really feel accepted as a p1ece and getting to scream about p1harmony at the concert was so fun. So definitely would choose a concert!!! 🙂

 

If you have a chance to cook for the group, what will you cook for them?

Probably pineapple upside down cake because I’m literally the best baker ever??? I think they would all enjoy it even if they don’t have a sweet tooth like me… 😉

 

If you can spend a day with your bias, where will you go and what will you do?

Honestly coffee and thrifting with KeeHo all day?? A dream. His fashion sense is like literally amazing and I feel he would help me find good pieces at all the thrift stores. And like the little fashion shows??? Let me stop before I cry LMAO.

 

For you, what is your bias’ best stage outfits until now?

My favorite stage was this ‘Scared’ stage. It was the one where they had fake injuries on their face and the CAMO PRINT PANTS?????? It was… immaculate.

 

Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite artist from other fans (non-fans)?

I feel like people just think too little of P1Harmony. I always see people calling them a “nugu” group and everything. I just personally think that fanwars in general need to stop. Like we all like K-Pop, you know what I mean? Also, I feel like a lot of people that aren’t P1ece always have something to say and it is just weird to me!!! Let’s all just be friends and enjoy K-Pop!!!
I also want to say that seeing P1Harmony in concert is like so unreal. They are so amazing in concert and they gave their all for like every performance. I went to a good amount of the shows for their recent tour and it was amazing. I totally recommend it. They all try their best to make every single P1ece in the concert hall feel seen. It is truly an indescribable experience that I feel everyone should experience.

 

Lian’s message to P1Harmony:

I just want to thank P1Harmony for connecting me with all of my best friends that I have met now. If I didn’t find P1Harmony, I wouldn’t be here today. I think that is the same for a good amount of P1ece. I would like to thank them for also making me feel like I can be myself if that makes sense? I no longer cringe when I see videos or pictures of myself since stanning them. I am an overall happier person and I will be forever grateful. I’m excited to see what music they have planned for us in the future. It is bound to be great of course. I love you all 🙂
