LAist Studios, LAist's podcast producing arm, recently announced that they will be premiering "K-Pop Dreaming", a new podcast series that will cover the rise and history of K-Pop in the United States. The podcast will be told from the perspective of the Korean diaspora in Los Angeles.
Vivian Yoon, a Korean American writer-performer from Koreatown, Los Angeles will be hosting the podcast. As a writer, Vivian Yoon's works would include various animated shows for Netflix, Amazon, and Verizon Media. Her original dramedy series was recently in between a bidding war between 2 major production studios.
As the podcast's host, Vivian will be bringing the listeners of the podcast to a trip down memory lane by delving into K-Pop's origins in Korean trot music and American presence in post-war South Korea, up to the spike of popularity of the K-Pop in the present day, while connectingt her own story, her struggles and her self-discovery as a second generation immigrant in Los Angeles.

Listeners can expect to hear pop culture history lesson in the eyes of a Korean American growing up in Los Angeles, and her love letter to this city, all intergrated in one touching podcast.
"K-Pop Dreaming" will be made available on LAist Studio hubpage from February 23, and will also be available in video format on LAist Studios' YouTube Channel! Listeners may also tune in through all podcasts platforms.

LAist Studios will also be holding a special live event for the new podcast, in partnership with GYOPO, on March 16, Thursday at the Crawford Family Forum, in Pasadena, California. The event will be featuring a live K-Pop DJ, and a dynamic discussion with Vivian Yoon on the evolution of Korean pop culture and its relationship to Southern California.
