SEVENTEEN's SeungKwan Is The Next To Join "Build Up" As A Special Judge

Popular and globally known Mnet originally teased the idea of its upcoming survival reality program "Build Up: Vocal Boy Group Survival" around the end of December last year, with the eventual reveal of 40 contestants: this includes PENTAGON's Yeo One as well as members from: CIX, AB6IX, UP10TION, KNK, A.C.E, WEI, ONE PACT's Jay Chang, VANNER, JUSTB, BDC, New Kidd, and more. 

As more information was delivered and announced to fans, it was later revealed that the judges would also include a star-studded lineup and fan favorite list: Lee SeokHoon, BaekHo, BTOB's EunKwang, MAMAMOO's Solar, Red Velvet's Wendy, and Kim JaeHwan. Host Lee DaHee later announced that among the 40 contestants, only four spots will be given to the winners. 

Teasers provided more information about the show and the fact that it will premiere on January 26th, 2024 at 10:10pm KST (Korean Standard Time). Fans were later informed that the popular idol group member, Boo SeungKwan, renowned for being the main vocalist in SEVENTEEN would also appear on the show as a special judge. He is known to possess MC/host skills and often mentioned as one of the 'faces' and one of the many centers of his group.

In 2023, Seungkwan also appeared on one of the most popular non-English shows on Netflix called "The Devil's Plan". The show was a survival game show featuring a diverse cast of 12 contestants ranging from lawyers, doctors, science YouTubers, K-Pop Idols, professional gamers, and actors. 

The members of SEVENTEEN had a jam-packed year in 2023, starting it off with releasing the single 'BETTING', before releasing the viral 6 track EP "FML" which featured the popular hit song 'Super' and the first duo title track ever for the group along with 'F*ck my life'. They then proceeded to release the following: "Sara Sara", "ALWAYS YOURS", "Dirty Dancing (New Kids On The Block with Joshua, DK & Dino of SEVENTEEN)", and the 11th mini album "SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN". Around this time, the group also released an inside joke from their popular 'Going Seventeen' series to official platforms titled "God Of Light Music". The joke would also make an appearance here. 

Since then, SeungKwan and fans of SEVENTEEN have been enjoying the new series with Na PD that was previously teased via live stream: "NANA TOUR with SEVENTEEN" where the program focuses around the idol group as they embark on a fun and memory filled adventure in Italy. Three episode trailers have since been released to promote the show.
