Usually cherry blossom season aka spring in South Korea marks the celebration and commemoration of all things pink. This goes for stationery and souvenirs sold in stores, pastel clothes, and even drinks and desserts in cafes. This year, the trend seems to have changed a little bit. Whereas cafes would've traditionally served all things bubblegum, strawberry, and cherry-blossom flavored with pink visuals before...

This year, there seems to be a new trend happening among Korean cafes. Many Korean cafes and coffee franchises have opted to reinterpret the typical spring drink aesthetic by creating new spring concepts and product lines to commemorate the season.

Let's take a look at the new spring drink trends being sold in cafes at the moment that Koreans will be drinking throughout the flowery season!

 

TOM N TOMS Coffee - Cranberries Are The New Strawberries

Whilst most cafes used to release drinks with strawberry flavors the most in previous years. This year, Korean cafe franchises have mostly gone with different fruit selections.

For instance, TOM N TOMS Coffee has stuck with the pink theme most commonly associated with spring in Korea, but have chosen cranberries as their fruit of choice for their beverages with the theme 'Cranberry Blossom'.

Their two signature drinks for the season are the 'Blossom Cranberry Juice' (pictured on the left) and the 'Blossom Cranberry Tom N Chino' (pictured on the right). They even have a fragrance as part of their new product line.

Hollys - Good Luck In A Glass

Holly's has taken on a refreshing concept of spring bringing good luck. With four-leaf clovers on display, and still embracing the pink highlights of the season, they have introduced a variety of drinks that appeal to different taste profiles.

They have released the 'Lucky Mugwort Latte' (pictured on the left), 'Golden Ball Dragon Fruit Smoothie' (in the center), and the 'Lucky Daisy Muscat Tea' (on the right). They've also released a banana pudding dessert.

Mammoth Coffee - Making Your Money Jiggle Jiggle And Fold

Mammoth Coffee is making our money jiggle jiggle and fold with their unorthodox but pleasant surprise of a spring treat offering.

They have released two new representative spring drinks the 'Custard Pudding Latte' (pictured on the right) and the 'Custard Pudding Shake' (on the left). Custard pudding has become a rising dessert trend in Korea recently, especially with videos spreading online of people making the dessert jiggle with the tap of their spoon.

Compose Coffee has mixed it up with a fusion drink offering strawberry flavor and a separate completely new vanilla offering, as well. They are serving decadent and fresh and crisp drinks respectively, giving you the best of both worlds.

Compose Coffee released a 'Choux Cream Latte', a collaboration latte with the famous ice cream brand Häagen-Dazs in the form of a 'Häagen Holic Latte', and a 'Yuja Berry Ade'.

Coffee Bean's spring concept comes with the tagline 'Spring makes Forest'. They have focused on the rejuvenated and natural aspect of spring, focusing on more earthy elements. Their marketing has been emphasizing how their new drinks symbolize the refreshing growth prominent in spring.

Their spring menu items include the 'Crunchy Caramel Cream Cold Brew', the 'Forest Matcha Cream Oat Latte', and the 'Forest Green Apple Tea'. Matcha desserts have also been trending in Korea recently.

Palgong Tea - Peach Showers This Spring

Palgong Tea has created a tagline for their new spring product range using the famous Korean song 'Star Shower' by byebyesea that has the line '별 빛이 내린다' in Korean. You would've heard this jingle many times on variety shows when someone makes an expression like they're falling in love. Palgong Tea has made a play on this. They have changed the word '빛이' (meaning light) and switched it with '피치' which is Konglish for 'peach' and sounds similar in pronunciation.

So, this spring with Palgong Tea will be a sweet and refreshing peach shower. As such, they've released the 'Peach ASAK Milk Tea', the 'Peach ASAK Sherbet' drink, and the 'Peach ASAK Aurora Tea'.
