A Dong-ari From The UK Talks About Their Favorite Group DKZ And Their Bias GiSeok & KyoungYoon

Soph from the UK is the next fan to answer our questions. They are a fan of DKZ, and particularly of GiSeok & KyoungYoon. Check out how they entered the fandom, the songs and content they advise to new fans, and much more!

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

I’m Soph! I’m from the UK.

How and when did you enter the fandom?

I entered the fandom after seeing the first performance of 'Cupid' on "Music Bank" in April of this year.

What are the reasons why you love your favorite group?

For me, DKZ has always been such a refreshing group to support. Their content whether it be a livestream, JaeChan’s show or a music video never fails to make me smile and that’s something I’ll always be thankful to them for.

Who caught your attention at first and why?

JongHyeong! His dancing was so energetic yet clean and he was constantly stealing my attention the first time I watched a performance of theirs.

Who is your bias, and why?

My bias is constantly swapping between GiSeok and KyoungYoon, I love their dynamic with each other and the rest of the group and they both hold such an amazing presence when they perfom.

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

For title track, of course, I have to recomend their recent comeback 'Uh-Heung'! The song is so different from their last release this year and I think it really showcases how much versatility they have as a group. For B-side we’ll have to wait till they release their first full album as DKZ :).

Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers?

I would recommend watching any of GiSeok and KyoungYoon’s fancams/facecams so you can truly see and focus on their performance skills.

Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics?

In "Uh-Heung", there’s the lyric “You only live once the world is yours” and I've always been a big fan of those ideologies so it felt really meaningful and empowering to hear it in their lyrics.

Are there any words from the members you would like to share?

"There are many people against same-sex relationships, and I hope this drama can serve a gateway for eliminating that prejudice." - JaeChan

What is your biggest dream for your favorite group/bias aside from being happy and healthy?

I really hope to see them tour globally! I know this sounds an obvious answer but I really think a tour would be a good way to show them off to even more people and help grow our fanbase even more!

If you go to only one, would you go to a concert, fan meeting, or fan sign?

I would have to choose fanmeeting honestly, I feel like fanmeetings always allow a much more personal connection between artists and their fans, with small performances but also interactive games or skits, and obviously the larger scale from a fan sign. They’re also a lot easier to attend lol!

If you can spend a day with your bias, where will you go and what will you do?

Honestly maybe a theme park ? Somewhere like Universal Studios or Disney, I feel they’d really be in their element and enjoy it, plus there's such a range of things to do. I also would really love to see MinGyu spinning in a teacup…

Do you have a dream subunit/unit?

I’d love to see a special collab stage with other artists! Maybe Hoshi from SEVENTEEN? I feel like he would really like 'Uh-Heung' and the vibes are so similar!

What type of variety show would you like them to do?

I’d love to see them on something like 'Game Caterers'! I’ve been a big fan of that variety show for a little while now and seeing DKZ there would literally be the perfect collab for me.

What is your favorite group/bias' influence on your daily life?

I think their influence on my motivation and emotions is probably my favourite thing. An instagram post or a short YouTube video from any or all of them will never fail to put me in a good mood for the day.

What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying?

You can almost detatch yourself from the hardships of reality for a little while and focus on these amazing performances and funny variety shows and I know the performance of escapism is often looked down upon but I think every once in a while it can be good for you to take some time to forget about the things that are bothering you and just have fun.

Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite group from other fans (non-fans)?

I think because they aren't from such a big company and they’ve had a few bumps in the road since the original debut of some of the members, a lot of people disregard them. However, I truly think if people took the time to listen to their music and watch their content, they too would fall in love with these boys as quickly as me and fellow Dong-ari have done.

If somehow you see and end up reading this the first thing i’d like to say is that you’re doing so well and that Dong-ari everywhere are so proud of you! Your recent comeback was so powerful and you must have worked so hard so make sure to eat and rest well!
It is my absolute dream that in the near future you will tour the world to see international Dong-ari such as myself, and many many others. For now, I will continue cheering from a distance as your happiness and wellbeing will always be the main priority!
Me and other Dong-ari will continue to cheer for you no matter what and we can’t wait to see what other music and content you will bless us with!!
