A Dutch ATINY Talks About Her Favorite Group ATEEZ & Her Biases HongJoong & YunHo

There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other's stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other.

So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

Hi! I am Sim (22) and I'm from the Netherlands.

How and when did you enter the fandom?

I remember it was around June 2019 when I came across ATEEZ's "Try Not To Sing Or Dance Challenge" that they did on FBE's YouTube channel and WooYoung instantly caught my attention. Then, I started listening to their music, started with the title tracks- 'Say My Name', 'Treasure' - and the rest was history.

What are the reasons why you love your favorite group?

In short: talent. In long: I just love how easily they immerse themselves in whatever character they want to play while performing on stage; I love how they claim any music festival as their own ATEEZCON and how everyone, even non-stans, ends up admitting they stole the whole show. This is what happens when you're born to be on stage, like ATEEZ is. They're a whole package of talent, beauty, charisma, handsomeness and just the right amount of dorkiness.

Who caught your attention at first and why?

I think WooSan (WooYoung & San), just because they have always been naturally funny and a match-made-in-heaven for each other. (platonic soulmates <3).

Who is your bias, and why?

My bias changes almost on a weekly basis haha, but as of now, I think HongJoong and YunHo, with JongHo slowly creeping up the list.

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

I recommend these title tracks: 'Treasure', 'Answer', 'Deja Vu', 'Guerrilla', 'The Real'.

For B-sides: 'New World', 'Cyberpunk', 'The Ring', 'Utopia', 'Horizon', 'Promise', 'Dazzling Light', 'Be With You', 'The Letter'.

Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers?

For HongJoong: ALL his covers (by. Hong); my absolute favorite is 'Lemon Tree' (probably tied with 'Numb').

For YunHo: ALL "ANEWZ" episodes (this dude is genuinely so funny it's impossible to not fall in love with him).

For JongHo: ALL "Jjongst's" + OSTs; my personal favorites- 'Here I Am Again' (#1), 'There For You' (#5).

From 'Be With You': "Cold snowflakes withered down, until you bloom as a spring flower, I'll be with you."

What is your favorite group/bias' influence on your daily life?

They are my biggest inspiration in terms of work ethic and being genuinely passionate about what one chooses to do for a living. They always encourage me/us to take it one step at a time and not feel discouraged if, at first, we fail to do a certain thing/ task. In short, they are one of the reasons why I haven't given up on certain things I am passionate about in my life and I am still going as strong as I can.

First of all, thank you for being your truest selves and for living as intensely and passionately as you do. Thank you for always being the best versions of yourselves and allowing yourselves to also take breathers from time to time and to enjoy the smallest things in life.
