Fan Article: Indian WENEE Talk About Why WonHo Is An Emotion To Them & His Recent Release "Bittersweet"

Giving a short introduction about WonHo: He is a former member of MONSTA X and is now a soloist active under the name WonHo and is fandom is called WENEE. His debut date as a MONSTA X member is 14.05.2015 and he debuted on 04.10.2020 as a soloist.

In India, we have a tiny but sweet fanbase for WonHo. On October 14 at 1 p.m. KST, WonHo returned with his new single album “Bittersweet” which consisted of two songs - 'Don’t Regret' and 'On_on'.

Written and composed by WonHo, his new title track 'Don’t Regret' is both powerful and emotional, with a trendy, funk sound and energetic vocals. It serves as the release’s angsty and emotional title track. The song unravels a different side to WonHo as he delves into a more rock-ish feel. The tune falls under the bitter side of the EP as it elucidates a poignant rendering of a breakup.

WonHo - An emotion to us - I personally adore him so much… I had known this person since 2018 when he was in the group MONSTA X. Not only know him, I love him slowly through my journey as a Fan girl. I am here as well when he is a soloist, giving my full support to him everywhere possible. Why not? His songs heal me every time. Why not support him with all the love from our side? He is such a baby whom I want to protect for life long.
When it comes to his recent comeback “BitterSweet” - His title song is 'Don’t Regret'. Hearing that song, I truly believe that I don't have regret for stanning the right person. I don’t have any regret for supporting him in any way possible. Though I know the song - it is about breakups. But as a fangirl, I interpret it in a different way. I think he wants us to know whatever decision he made, he doesn't have any regrets. He is happy with his WENEE and wants to be happy with the WENEE forever.

Okay, first of all. I don't think any words can explain what he means to me. I'll try my best to express myself. WonHo isn't an idol for me.. He is my comfort place, the way he loves WENEE I have never seen other idols have such affection towards their fandom (every idol has their different ways but I found his more unique and overwhelming). I have been seeing and known WonHo for about 7+ years now including the transformation of his hair ^^ Silver hair in Single 'Newton' to his Purple Ombre in “Follow” album. From Blonde and very short hair in 'Open Mind' to Black silky hair in 'Don't Regret'. I have been on this journey with him for so long that he feels more like home than an idol to me. Yes, a home, a proper comfort place which everyone will agree. Yes, there was a super emotional patch for everyone in the fandom out there which probably no one will ever forget but I am happy that I am doing my level best to support him as much as I can from my side. Be it buying albums or streaming or in the future will attend concerts as well.
His recent comeback genre was something unexpected because he himself said that he is a performer rather than just a singer. The very first emotional attachment with his songs was 'Losing you' and its lyrics, especially the line “When you feel like you ain't got the fight to heal, and when you weak in defeat” reminds me of the time we all struggled to get him back, he expressed through the song that he is back stronger just for us. Another emotional attachment.. Correction… Another message from him was the song 'WENEED'. The whole song is just so amazing and emotional I still cannot choose my favorite line from that song. But the line “When I am back on the stage and sing this song, Will you be there for me AGAIN? when I am back on the stage will you wave your hands AGAIN?” had me in tears. Yet another song 'Don’t Regret', The lyrics have very deep meaning if not seen from the music video perspective, I mean the 1st line itself says “When I go back in time, I’ll be the same, Not for a moment, I don't regret it. No regrets, Never”. That's why 'Don’t Regret' will have a special place in my heart and just like him I won't keep any regrets from the past and focus on the present and future instead. No matter what happens I’ll always and forever be on his side and protect him.

WonHo is my idol. It is because of his nature, his behavior towards us that is WENEE. Time changes but he is still soft but he is stronger than ever. He is our supporter and we are his. He supported us in every way as well as giving love. So why not. This is our way to give them back.
If I have to share my thoughts about 'Dont Regret' - In one word, it is just amazing. Each and every song pointed out how he is a skilled composer. With his crew member, I definitely want to give kudos to him for being such an all-rounder.

For me, WonHo is a really special artist. Not only because his music is beautiful but because of who he is, as a person. Someone who has fought multiple battles and continues to fight many more. Someone who's selfless in whatever he does. Someone who loves hard and gives his all, he truly is a kind human being. Before an artist, he is a human just like the rest of us and we should love him for that first. His music is inspirational just like his journey. Talking about his recent album release "Bittersweet", 'Don't Regret' pretty much hits it off with WENEE the moment we listen to it. The message behind the song is simple and a very beautiful one. The promise to forever stay by our side, never leave us whether it rains or shines, is very reassuring of WonHo. Loving someone should not be a burden. It mustn't hurt. It should be beautiful, it should be fulfilling, it should be selfless, it should be simple, and above all, it should never carry regrets. Loving WonHo is very similar to these feelings mentioned. We can never regret it.

WonHo, as I like to call him Hyung, is a comfort place to me. I got to know him back in 2019, then I was not an active stan but when everything happened, I got to know him more. And then when he had his debut, I fell in love with who he was and what he represents. The love he shows to us fans. Though I regret not knowing him sooner, I will support him with anything I can.
When I heard his songs, I just fell in love with what the lyrics meant. But then a certain friend of mine, Hyojun Noona, who’s Ultimate is Hyung, told me, what actually those lyrics meant, I couldn’t hold my tears back. The whole bond between Hyung and WENEE is one of the most precious bonds I have ever seen between fans and an Idol. The way he treats WENEE, it’s just unexplainable. Just a few days ago Hyung held a fansign in Japan, He handed WENEE roses himself and he sang looking right into their eyes with a gentle smile. I bet everyone who sees that video will either be jealous or melt but everyone will feel the sincerity in him when it comes to his fans, WENEE. It just is very obvious that he cherishes us. But it’s just not him, we cherish him too. While the struggle was going on WENEE waited for him patiently. And I am sure knowing this Hyung was also wanting to be there for us like we were to him.
But this comeback “Bittersweet”, it is truly a bitter and sweet confession, with his new song, 'Don’t Regret', we can say Hyung does not regret the past, The Bitter Part. Because he has the present, us WENEE, and the same goes for us, We WENEE have him, we are by each other's side and that’s all that matters for both of us, The Sweet part. The bond we share and will always share, it’s unexplainable, but that’s okay with us.
I really love and respect his hard work and motivation. He is a very hard working human who absolutely loves his fans. And we love him too. Hyung Saranghanda~

WonHo, to be honest, for me, is a baby mentally who is stuck in the body of an Adult Human. I personally like him because he is a very pure-hearted person and a pure-hearted idol. You can usually see on his face what is going on inside him but there are times when he hides his emotions so well, it is difficult to understand and figure it out.
For me, this comeback “Bittersweet” is bitter and sweet in its own way. Bitter because this may be the last comeback before his enlistment and sweet because in the song 'Don’t Regret' he talks about how he does not regret the past and cherishes the present as he has WENEE.

It's crazy how WonHo is making us all go from a love vibe in 'Don't Regret' to a fun vibe in 'On & on'. He is back with two amazing songs and full power-pack performances. As he wrote both songs for WENEE I can totally relate to it. 'Don't Regret''s lyrics and his vocals are just on the point. I am more attached to the meaning behind these lyrics. He put so much effort into us. He wanted to convey a message to WENEE so it's very special to me. His other song 'On & On' is more of my type 🤭 I can see myself dancing to this song on Diwali. It's his first song featuring someone else. Moreover, both songs speak about a journey of themselves. I can finally say I have no regrets about whatever the past was. That's how talented he is making us all feel proud of him. I am thankful to WonHo cause I am dancing 'On & On' with Indian WENEE. 💃🏻

WonHo is not just a powerful soloist, but also a beautiful and dynamic human being and that shows in his songs. He can go from dance-heavy, addictive pop to slow ballads and it still feels very WonHo. His vision in music is very consistent and even though one thinks they can predict what to expect, he surprises every time.
The title track of the "Bittersweet" album -'Don't Regret' has a very satisfying melody and WonHo's voice blends so beautifully with the rock instrumental that it creates a very different mood. The MV too is a whole masterpiece and WonHo once again, delivered in every way possible. The other track - 'On & On' is another pretty and vibey song. My only qualms with the album is it's too short. Apart from that, "Bittersweet" is a solid 8/10 from me.
