Join MCND On Their Mesmerizing "ODD-VENTURE": Concert Review

Unparalleled vocals, immense dance skills and impeccable stage presence. MCND, that stands for 'Music Creates New Dream', is a 5-member K-Pop boy group that combines all of the above qualities into memorable performances for its "ODD-VENTURE 2024 Europe Tour". 

I was not a huge fan of MCND before the concert, but, living in Greece, a country that rarely hosts K-Pop concerts, I decided to purchase tickets as soon as they became available. Having already listened to a few of the group's songs, I made my way to the venue in pure enthusiasm, yet not ready for what was about to come. 

The word that would best describe the atmosphere I encountered once I set foot in the venue was 'electric'. Under the dim lights, the fans were already singing out loud the lyrics of their favorite MCND songs, stopping now and then to comment on their favorite tracks or share fun facts about the members with each other.

Suddenly, the conversations stopped and they were replaced by the fans' voices shouting the group's name at the top of their lungs. The lights went off. For a few seconds, you could hear a pin drop as the venue remained illuminated only by the giant screen that displayed the "ODD-VENTURE" cover along with the dates for the European tour. The hall was totally unmoving, everyone holding their breaths in anticipation, like time had stopped for a while, also waiting for the members to make their appearance.

It was as if someone had pressed 'play' when the fans exploded into excited cheers again, this time as MCND's "ODD-VENTURE" tour intro was projected on the giant screen, presenting the members and clips from track videos that were released on their "ODD-VENTURE" album. Once the intro was over, the audience burst into applause and the group's members, Castle J, Bic, MinJae, HuiJun and WIN, made their way to the stage covered by absolute darkness, to get into position to perform the first song of the evening. No sooner had the spotlights switched on than the 'ODD-VENTURE' instrumental played and the group started moving in total sync, singing the first chorus along with their fans.

'ODD-VENTURE' was soon followed by 'Cruise', which was similarly welcomed by the audience. After that, MCND halted the performance for the first ment, which included a quick introduction of the group and the members, and proceeded to sing 'Crush' and 'Pop Star'. It wasn't long before the high-energy tracks transitioned into ballads, like 'Treasure', which led to the first intermission. 

MCND did a wonderful job maintaining our attention during it, disproving my suspicions that I would lose interest while they were preparing for the next part of the concert. A video of MCND buying and mixing food ingredients to rate them later was projected on the giant screen, keeping us busy until the group returned on the stage, having changed their black suits to more casual fits, in order to perform their most upbeat songs, including 'Blow', 'Player', 'nanana' and 'H.B.C'.

After the second intermission, that went by with a pre-recorded interview of the members, they came back for the last songs, starting with 'Run' and majestically ending the concert with their pre-debut track 'TOP GANG' and their debut track 'ICE AGE'. 

No words could describe the emptiness I felt as soon as the performance came to an end, as I was left wishing there would be another MCND concert in Greece soon and I briefly even considered buying an airplane ticket to attend their upcoming concert in Budapest. 

It was an undoubtedly outstanding performance, reinforced by both the fans' and the group's unlimited youthful energy. The members of MCND showcased their versatility through their expressive, powerful and stable vocals paired with their fluid dance movements and captivating stage presence that allowed them to successfully interact with the fans and keep them engaged in the performance. 

I sincerely hope I will have the chance to attend one of their concerts again in the future and, if they are coming your way during the remaining of their Europe or US Tour, I heartily recommend purchasing a ticket to experience this exceptional event first-hand!
