K-Drama "The First Responders 2": Mysteries Left Unsolved On The First Season And What To Expect

Set to air on August 4, SBS’ crime action and emergency rescue series ‘The First Responders’ is returning for a Season 2! Starring Kim RaeWon, Son HoJun, and Gong SeungYeon, the drama promises a more intense emergency rescue operation in a stronger collaboration between the Taewon Police, the Fire Department, and the National Forensic Service (NFS) in its return, keeping viewers at the edge of their seats once again.

As the plot thickens on the second installment of the series, answers and resolutions to mysteries and crimes left unsolved is expected, as well as new and more shocking revelations about the characters as we get to know them deeper and their backstories. So, without further ado, here’s a little refresher of the first season and what we expect to see in "The First Responders 2."

The Serial Arsonist

The last scene of the first season got us scared for HoGae and DoJin, and made us wonder if they will survive from the burning parking lot. We are still yet to see how they survived the explosion and witness their pursuit of the serial arsonist (and how is the arsonist connected to DoJin) in what we guess the first arrest of the series.

The Main Characters And Their Pasts

As they say, what we become is a result of past teachings and experiences. We expect the slow unraveling of the characters’ past in the first season will come as a big revelation in the second season, like why HoGae chose to become a police officer instead of joining the legal field, like what his father wanted, and how DoJin got his nickname “Bulldozer”. Perhaps, we’ll get to see bigger revelations that will change the characters.

Dex, The Mastermind

With a sense of smell and tenacity like a Jindo dog, we expect to see Detective Jin further realize justice in his pursuit of the yet unknown: the mastermind of the Bang PilGu case and is behind Ma TaeHwa, Dex. In the first season, we got a glimpse of what Dex is capable of. With Dex in the picture, we are likely to see bigger crimes and in turn, more intense action scenes for viewers to enjoy.

Subplot: Romance

Aside from the intense rescue missions and criminal arrests, we are also excited and hope to see the budding romance between HoGae and SongSeol develop into a relationship. A romantic pairing between DoJin and YoonHong is also possible, considering how close the two characters are getting in the first season. It will be interesting to see how romance could bloom amidst joint emergency response.

"The First Responders 2" is set to air every Friday and Saturday, starting August 4 at 10 PM KST replacing "Revenant".
