Kpopmap Fan Interview: A FANTASY From El Salvador Talks About SF9 & Her Bias JaeYoon, Starting Her Journey Since "SKY Castle"

There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other' stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other.

So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.

HoneyVoice99 is the next fan to answer our questions. She is from El Salvador and is a fan of SF9 and more particularly of JaeYoon! Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more!

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

Hi Kpopmap readers, I'm HoneyVoice99, a college student from El Salvador and I'm 22 years old. This time I want to share with you my experience as a FANTASY (SF9's fandom name).

How and when did you enter the fandom?

I entered the fandom at the end of January 2021. I love K-Dramas and this time I wanted to try a different genre than what I'm used to, so I chose "SKY Castle" and fell in love with WooJoo. After discovering that Chani is an idol and after seeing a lot of his individual content, I eventually saw group content, their charisma, elegance and how funny they are attracted me and since then I am FANTASY.

What are the reasons why you love your favorite group?

They are talented and hard-working boys, despite the difficulties that have happened since their beginnings, they take these situations as an impulse to continue improving day by day; the warmth with which they treat FANTASY and the love they express to us in different ways, for example: for their Imperfect concert they created choreographies for songs that they didn't have, but that they know are songs that FANTASY likes a lot.

Who caught your attention at first and why?

The next person who caught my eye after Chani was JaeYoon with his great visual and sweet voice.

Who is your bias, and why?

I think FANTASY will agree with me that it is difficult to choose your bias, since they all have a unique and special charm, but I think that by my username you already get the idea of who my bias is (blushes) and he’s JaeYoon .

 

He always likes to try new things, you can see it in his V Live series “I can do it”, he is very witty, he is very sweet and gentle, he has a charming smile and he is very funny, especially when he is with InSeong and DaWon we know that it will be a very fun time.

 

As a personal experience, due to my studies I am always awake in the middle of the night and when I feel sad, down and without strength to continue I listen to his covers, listening to him sing is like a hug to the soul, it comforts me, gives me strength and the encouragement necessary to continue.

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

All of SF9's discography is incredible, so I invite Kpopmap readers to take a look at it.

 

I personally recommend the title tracks 'O Sole Mio', 'Enough', 'Good Guy' and 'Summer Breeze',

and the B-side tracks 'One love' from their album "First Collection", 'Gentleman' and 'Memory' from their most recent mini album “Rumination”, 'Liar' from their mini album "RPM" and their single 'Savior'.

Can you recommend a fancam, V-Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers?

I really like his cover of IU's song 'Hold my hand',

his "Music Bank" performance with InSeong of the song 'The Lonely Bloom Stands Alone',

and his cover of 'The moment my heart flinched' by SUPER JUNIOR's KyuHyun.

Can you also do the same type of recommendation for the group?

I recommend their final "KINGDOM: LEGENDARY WAY" performance of their song 'Believer', they all look like something out of a fairy tale.

Their 'Love Again' perfomance on "Inkigayo".

Their interview on "Fact iN Star" is, in my personal opinion, the most chaotic interview (in a good way) they've ever done.

And also "LieV x SF9"'s V Live from the 'O Sole Mio' era, where they share their thoughts about what passion means to them also we have a lot of funny moments from them.

Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics?

I have two lyrics that I specifically like from their song 'Beautiful Light' and they are:

 

“We were already destined to know each other”

 

“Even if my heart is tired it will never change you, it will protect you.”

 

This is because years ago I had seen their content but had not paid attention, and again I found them again and this time it is to stay by their side always, no matter how much time passes, they are part of my life and they are very special in my heart.

What is your favorite group/bias' influence on your daily life?

From them I have learned to do things with passion, keeping a warm heart, showing my love to my loved ones in my own way, that you can be someone who likes studying (or be serious about what you like) and at the same time enjoy of the process, appreciating and enjoying the little things in life, have taught me to take care of myself and love myself for who I am, that you can achieve your dreams by persevering and finally to believe more in myself and get out of my comfort zone (I had to mention that it is because of them that I decided to create my YouTube channel JaeYoon's Honey Voice).

What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying?

The positive influence that SF9 has in my life, wanting to see them happy and supporting them without expecting anything in return, and the beautiful relationship that exists between SF9 and FANTASY, more than fan and artist, we are family.

 

In the fandom I have experienced many beautiful things, I have met many kind and good people, and I love that we always support each other (both with SF9 and in the fandom itself).

Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite group from other fans (non-fans)?

There are always misunderstandings, usually because people only know part of the story and not the whole context.

 

Social networks are a platform where we connect and share our thoughts, our ideas and more. Being a space where everything goes viral, it is important to remember that our words have a great influence (although not many believe it), so we have to be respectful when we disagree with someone or something and always share good things, you can brighten someone's day and you will attract positivity into your life.
