There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other' stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other.

So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.

Jocelin is the next fan to answer our questions. She is from Mexico. She is a fan of SF9! Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more!

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

Hi, nice to meet you. My name is Jocelin. I'm from Mexico. I'm currently 20 years old. I'm studying law and I'm FANTASY since August 2021.

How and when did you enter the fandom?

I remember that I met SF9 one day after my birthday. It was all thanks to RoWoon since I wanted to know everything about him, so I started listening to the songs of the group he belonged to. Later I joined VLive (I didn't know how to find more information of them so I had to search in google and it appeared as a recommendation) and curiously, I was able to see that same day "Bin, Us". I decided to use my Twitter again and suddenly I was already in my first group of votes, so I don't know exactly where what point I became FANTASY.

What are the reasons why you love your favorite group?

How do I start? SF9 is a group that makes you feel that you are at home. Each member transmits such different feelings to you through their words and songs. You know that you can have difficult times but there will always be 9 people who will be there for you and will wait for you with a smile as you open the door, because they not only see you as a fan, but they see you as if you were the closest and dearest family member to them. They are such honest and transparent guys. They give you life advice and theyare there motivating you. They are an example to follow. I am lucky to know SF9, I am.

Who caught your attention at first and why?

RoWoon was the first boy I focused my attention on. And how do I not do it? Since I saw “Extraordinary You” I was able to realize the talent that he has as an actor, but not only that. He’s also an excellent singer and a good dancer. What can I say about his way of being? He transmits me a lot of joy and at the same time, peace. He is a wonderful boy.

Who is your bias, and why?

One thing you learn as a FANTASY is that it's almost impossible to have a bias; all 9 win your heart so you can't pick just one.

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

It is difficult to choose. I would recommend listening to their entire discography, but to start with title track 'Easy Love' and 'Summer Breeze'.

B-side track: “Love No.5' and 'Round and Round'.

Can you recommend a fancam, VLive, cover video, cover dance, or group content video of the group?

I recommend the showcase of "Rumination" that is on VLive, for me it is very significant since it was the first time that I could see them together after several months, having the time of their lives.

What is your favorite group/bias' influence on your daily life?

Since I met SF9, it made my life change in many aspects. I have become happier, wanting to get up every morning. I have tried to improve both academically and personally because they inspire me, because I want in the future to be able to contribute to them as a fan and give them back a little of all the love they give me.

What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying?

My favorite side mmm… I think it’s to become active in apps to be able to support them in streaming, voting, etc. The happiness of knowing that they won is incomparable. The moments when I can interact with other FANTASY, not only from my country, but from all over the world, it's like talking to friends of years who, even though you don't know them, share that special bond.

What is your best souvenir with your favorite group until now?

One of "Bin,Us" VLives I remember I was able to watch it with subtitles then I wrote a question in English and Youngbin replied, it is a great achievement in my life haha, if I could I would frame that moment.

Can you share a fun episode that only fans from your fandom know to readers?

Yoo TaeYang's legendary pose is a classic.

If you have a chance to cook for the group, what will you cook for them?

I would like to cook “Mole poblano” it’s a typical dish from my state and its flavor is peculiar.

Name a variety show/content show that you would love to see your bias on? Tell us why.

"Men on a Mission", Chani and RoWoon appeared before, but I'm sure if all 9 members appeared it would be a chaos of fun, the show is fun and SF9 is fun too.

If you could write a book about your favorite group, what would the first and last lines be?

The first line would be “It was a strangely warm day in South Korea when suddenly a company named FNC Entertainment was heard in the distance…”.
The last line: "They closed their eyes while the breeze from the Sea caressed their cheeks, and a small white hair fell on their face, as they smiled they realized that SF9 would always be immortal".

Have you ever made a new friend because of K-Pop?

Yes, I have made several friends with FANTASY from different countries, it’s one of the incredible things that has happened to me this year since I have found people with whom I can talk for a thousand hours without getting bored.

These last months have been of changes for FANTASY, we currently have two members in the military service: InSeong and YoungBin, who I miss very much. However, time passes quickly and I only hope for their return. I wish with all my heart that this 2022 is full of achievements, health and happiness for SF9, that they develop each of their abilities and be recognized worldwide. They deserve it.
I know there are many things to say however I will only say "LET'S PROTECT OUR FAMILY".
