There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other' stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other.

So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

Hello! I'm Ren (@rendezvoooux_) and currently living in the Philippines.

How and when did you enter the fandom?

I saw an article that there's a project for idols who are from disbanded and inactive groups that are going to redebut. I instantly followed them during their pre-debut for OMEGA X because I thought it was really interesting to see it like that.

What are the reasons why you love your favorite artist?

There's a special connection that I can relate to them, and that's giving the second chance to shine once again and getting their own redemption arc to improve their talent and skills as an idol.

Who caught your attention at first and why?

TaeDong in 'VAMOS'. He was *extremely* charismatic in the car scene in the MV. 😳

Who is your bias, and why?

XEN. He was a cute, fluffy boy. Everytime I see him, my tiredness wiped me out, even after school and work. He even reminds me of Kuromi!

Which song by them caught your attention at first and why?

'VAMOS' and 'OMEGA X'. I'm a huge fan of noise music.

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

'LIAR', 'DON'T', 'DRY FLOWER', 'PLEASE', 'ALL ABOUT U', 'DANCE WITH U'. These are good balance of ballads and house pop genre

Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics?

"We'll never give up 'til we bloom again" -'DRY FLOWER'.

Are there any quotes by your favourite artist that you would like to share?

“Live according to the plans.” (from Reddit AMA).

What kind of influence has your favourite artist had on your daily life?

I'm currently a working student and just got a job quite recently. Whenever Xen (my main bias) posts a selca or an update, I feel my heart is about to burst because of how pretty and cute he is ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ It relieves my stress and tiredness after school and work.

What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying?

I learn a lot more about their culture and explore their music, films, and about the society that grows them.
Plus, I met great people in this fandom. I became instantly close to them like we had longer friendships for like more than 5 years ㅋㅋㅋ I hope you guys will see you soon!

Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite artist from other fans (non-fans)?

There's a recent one that JaeHan and YeChan are going to be the main cast for the upcoming BL series "A Shoulder to Cry On" and it was a rare sight to see that 2 members of the same group will play the roles of a love story between same gender.
Non-fans think that this is going to be awkward as hell and too cringy it might affect both of them in their career. We need to think that they are professionals, not just idols, but as actors as well. And they can pick the roles they want to play. They're very lovable and clingy to each other. So, it was no big deal for us. We'll never know what the other members of OMEGA X's reactions when the BL series about to release in September, and I am looking forward to it (and you should too, especially Hyuk's web series for "Bad Girlfriend"!)

What type of concept do you prefer: cute, dark, sexy, etc?

I would like to see them doing a concept of traditional-themed for their comeback. Perfect examples are from VIXX, ONEUS, and (G)I-DLE.

For me, my bias is ...

For me, my bias is like my best friend. He gave comfort, doing cute, silly things that he's comfortable about, loves to sing, and never gave up on his dream.

What is your best souvenir with your favorite group until now?

Fan letters for every members' birthday. I once suggested two necklaces for the two members for their birthday project (JungHoon and Xen) with a help of a friend of mine. Both of the necklaces that I chose won for the fan votes and it was really worth it! I hope they liked them.

Can you recommend a cute or funny video (30s)/gif of your bias to our readers?

I can't find the shorter clip, but Hyuk was doing a 'JIKJIN' guitar cover of TREASURE and Xen just randomly sang that "ook ok ookk" sound on the side laughing 😂 (0:50 mark).

If your bias were to collab with another idol, who do you think would be best?

Oh, he'd better get that collaboration with Wonstein and D.O. from EXO! Their voices blend together for a R&B genre.

Name a variety show/content show that you would love to see your bias on? Tell us why.

I would love to see him doing covers again on OMEGA X YouTube channel and joined on "Masked Singer"!
