There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other' stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other.

So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.

Penny from the Philippines is the next fan to answer our questions. She is a fan of JUST B and her bias is Lim JiMin. Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more!

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

Hi! My name is Penny and I am from the Philippines 😊 You can find me as @BMOnumba2 on Twitter~

How and when did you enter the fandom?

I got interested in JUST B when GeonU was rumoured to be in that group because I watched "I-LAND". When I found out about it, I waited for their debut. I can say that I officially entered the fandom maybe a few days after their debut showcase. Since then, I've always been following their updates and supporting them ♡.

What are the reasons why you love your favorite group?

It has only been 2 years since I got into K-Pop, and there is something in JUST B that made me really love them more than anyone else. They love their fans and they pay attention to what we want and what we don't want. But other than that, they are very talented. I saw how all of them grew to be the idols they are right now. They are very hardworking and I'm so glad that they didn't give up on reaching their dreams.

Who caught your attention at first and why?

As soon as Lim JiMin walked onto the stage in their debut showcase, I already liked him. He has a certain aura that makes me like him so much. Maybe it's also his hair back then that caught my eye. When he spoke and introduced himself as the leader of JUST B, I thought that his voice was so good. I'm into idols with deep voices, so it was for sure that he will catch my attention.

Who is your bias, and why?

My bias is still Lim JiMin ♡ Limji (his nickname) is often seen as cool and strong, but he is also very charming and cute. The way he dances is also something that only he can do. His emotions show from his face to the tip of his fingertips. He is very expressive and passionate at what he does, and I really like that about him ♡ He also loves ONLY B so much!

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

I would recommend 'DAMAGE', which is the title track from their first mini album "JUST BURN". One reason why I like JUST B is because of their songs. This song in particular made me want to stan them right away because it's so powerful and shows a lot of emotion, so I think it's a good start for new fans.

For the B-side track, I would recommend 'Try', the third track from their single album "JUST BEAT". I would also recommend watching the music video for that. It's simpler compared to their other music videos, but it showcases more of their talent especially in dancing.

Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers?

If you want to know more about Limji in particular, I highly recommend watching his music video 'WHO, YOU?' from when he was still a solo artist. He released 2 mini albums, "MINI" and "YOUTH". Knowing about these albums made me love Limji more because it shows a different side of him. He may be a little embarrassed from his old contents, but he's just really cute back then >< I personally like young Jjimi (his nickname when he was a solo artist) more, too <3

Can you also do the same type of recommendation for the group?

I recommend watching their "COVER by B" videos! For new fans, I think the best video to start with is 2020 COVER DANCE MEDLEY because you get to see different sides of them in one video. When they don't have promotions, they post dance covers and individual song covers. They even sang in 6 different languages! Isn't that cool?

Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics?

"마약에 내가 먼 훗날 언젠가
길은 잃어도 걱정 없어 NO
날비추는 너와 있으니까"
These lines are from the fifth track of their second mini album "JUST BEGUN" called 'Lights On'. It means that you shouldn't worry if you get lost on the road in the distant future because I will be here to shine a light for you (or at least from what I understand). 'Lights On' is JUST B's first fan song, and this song talks about being each other's light and making good memories while we are together so we have something beautiful to remember and go back to in the future. ONLY B gets emotional every time they perform this song.

What is your favorite group/bias' influence on your daily life?

JUST B made me try new things. They made me try to learn Korean, make fan arts, write fan letters everyday, and do piano covers. I've been doing short piano covers for a while, but it's only JUST B that made me push myself to cover each of their songs every time they do a comeback.

What is your best souvenir with your favorite group until now?

JUST B does mention parties on Twitter from time to time, and sometimes I receive replies from them. My most favorite reply is the one from Limji. I asked him where he would go for a perfect date. He said: "너랑 함께라면 어디든지 완벽하지 않을까??" (Wouldn't it be perfect anywhere with you??) It was the very first reply I received from him and it really made my heart explode!

Can you describe your bias in only one word?

Elegance.

Can you share a fun episode that only fans from your fandom know to readers?

Ah, there's this one episode from their reality show 밤탈출 (Baam Escape) when they all went to a skating rink. It was a very famous episode among fans and JUST B because Limji couldn't skate well. 😂 After that episode was released, he posted on SNS: "임지민 스케이트 엑스" which was very funny to me xD Until now, memes of him skating are still going around on Twitter, and it is still also a discussion among members when they go on V Live and some radio shows. Because of that episode, I also tried skating myself. 😂

If you are collecting goods, what is your most precious treasure? (please share a picture of it).

My most precious treasure is Limji's signed polaroid. It's the only signed item I have of them. I have it put in an acrylic frame and it is now displayed on my study table. When I get frustrated, I just look at it and it gives me motivation ^_^.

If you can spend a day with your bias, where will you go and what will you do?

In the morning, I would like to do fun activities with him like going to amusement parks. Since he also likes physical activities, maybe playing badminton or ping pong with him would be fun too since they're the sports I know very well 😅 Limji also likes jazz music. He has said on V Live a few times that he enjoys reading fan letters while listening to jazz music. So I would like to spend a night with him in a jazz cafe and just talk about life.

Do you have a dream subunit/unit? (It can be with a fellow member or another K-Pop idol).

My dream unit is Lim JiMin, Bain, and Chu JiMin. I call them "Penny Line" 😂 They are my favorite members in the group and I really love it when they come together in a selca or a video ♡.

I love it every time Limji takes a selfie on a yellow background ♡ Yellow isn't even my favorite color and I don't know why I like this yellow wall so much. It just makes the picture happier in some way ♡.

Name a variety show/content show that you would love to see your bias on? Tell us why.

There's this one show on Naver Now called "야간작업실" hosted by Jukjae where they play live music. I love this show so much because I love listening to live bands, be it in any genre. It's also fascinating how the band is able to play a song requested by their listeners right away. They invite guests sometimes, so one day I hope I get to see Limji sing some of his favorite songs there, too ♡.

What is your favourite way of communicating with your bias?

Him reading V Live comments has always been fun ^_^ He's so cute and flirty at the same time. But of course, nothing beats video calls! I love how he talks to ONLY B and it always makes me smile seeing how happy he is to talk to them. JUST B only had very few encounters with talking to ONLY B in real life because of restrictions, but hopefully they will be able to see their fans more often very soon.

What do you have in common with your favourite idol?

We both love mornings. We both wake up early to enjoy the morning ♡ I also hate it when I wake up late because it's like I just wasted the time I have in the morning and I work best during daytime ^_^.

Have you ever made a new friend because of K-Pop?

Sure! I have made really good ONLY B friends ♡ I have met some of them in real life already and I would love to meet them again and more fans! It's a bummer that I rarely see people who know JUST B in my area. Hopefully, this wonderful fandom will grow soon so I can freely talk about my favorite boys to more people ♡ STAN JUST B!

What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying?

Idol interaction with fans will always be my favorite ♡ JUST B recognizing how much support they are getting from ONLY Bs makes me very happy. I am happy when they are happy 😊.

Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite group from other fans (non-fans)?

Many people think that JUST B is just all about having a cool image but when in fact they are really cute too! They show off their cute charms on reality shows and other appearances. When you start looking at their other contents, you will see that they are actually soft ♡ You will want to hug all of them!
