So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.

 

Althea from the Philippines is the next fan to answer our questions. She is a fan of TREASURE. Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more!

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

Hi! Hello, I’m Althea but my friends call me Thea. I am from Iloilo Philippines and I am a TREASURE MAKER!

 

How and when did you enter the fandom?

I entered the fandom the day of my birthday. It’s August 13, 2020 and I was watching the premiere of ITZY’s ‘Not Shy’ comeback when I saw that TREASURE already debuted. Before that day, I already knew TREASURE because I’ve watched their show “YG TREASURE BOX”. But I didn’t quite actually sinked into the group because boy I was obsessed with BLACKPINK. But then when I saw the thumbnail I was like “oh they already debuted? gonna watch it!”. And then I think I fell in love. The debut song ‘BOY’ was amazing and then I watched “TREASURE MAP” and the comeback, I ended up saying “I LOVE YOU” AND I BECAME OBSESSED.

 

What are the reasons why you love your favorite group?

There’s just so much to talk about like. If I’m being honest, they’re built differently, like they have this charm where you know you’ll only fall in love with them every single minute that you’re looking at them. I almost feel like I’ve found my soulmate. I don’t know they just feel like you can relate to them in many ways and you’ll feel like you have a deep connection with them even though they didn’t know you which is funny of course. I’ve stanned a lot of groups before but TREASURE is different. My mom always thought I had a boyfriend because whenever she sees me, I always smile while looking at my phone. Well, guess what mom, I’m looking at the love of my life you can’t blame me.

 

Who caught your attention at first and why?

Haruto, because that boy is handsome.

 

Who is your bias, and why?

If you have a bias get out of the fandom. Just Kidding! But I don’t have one and I think I’m not gonna be able to choose. Because like everytime someone updates on Twitter or Weverse, I am like “Sorry I’m bias wrecked again” And I have come to a decision that I love them 12 periodt.

 

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

The title track I like the most is ‘JIKJIN’ because that was a bop and my favorite B-side and will always have a special place in my heart is ‘Orange’.

 

 

 

Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers?

I can guarantee you that if you watch all of the cover videos, fancams, and V-live you will fall in love with them. You can watch when 0104 liners get together, even if you can’t understand what they’re saying, you’ll laugh.

 

Can you also do the same type of recommendation for the group?

Just watch all of the contents as much as you can because what you see on stage is not what you see in real life. They may be look tough but they are the most precious human beings I’ve ever encountered.

 

Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics?

What is your favorite group/bias’ influence on your daily life?

Watching the students like YeDam, JeongWoo, DoYoung and JungHwan work really hard but still get excellent grades pushes me to study harder because like they’re busier than me, why else would I be slacking?

 

What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying?

They make me feel important and loved.

 

Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite group from other fans (non-fans)?

No, nothing at all, TREASURE MAKER’S first job is to protect TREASURE at all cost.

 

Can you share a fun episode that only fans from your fandom know to readers?

Watch JiHoon’s “TMI-LOG”, you’ll thank me.

 

If you have a chance to cook for the group, what will you cook for them?

I want to cook them a whole fried chicken. Because I was so sad when on an episode of “Treasure Map” where they had to cook for themselves, the chicken ended up raw on the inside but burnt on the outside. My mom has a recipe with a whole fried chicken and I wanted them to taste it.

 

If you can spend a day with your bias, where will you go and what will you do?

As I’ve said I don’t have a bias but if I want to go with the twelve of them I would go to Everland. It’s where they would hang out sometimes.

 

What’s your favourite 2022 moment involving your bias?

When ‘JIKJIN’ came out, I didn’t know how to breathe. Especially when pictures of Yoshi and JaeHyuk came out that was the best.

 

Name a variety show/content show that you would love to see your bias on? Tell us why.

“Running Man” or “Knowing Bros” because they are such great comedians.

 

What is your favourite way of communicating with your bias?

Through Weverse even though none of them replied to me yet. But I’d like to keep it simple because if I had the chance to meet them in person, I wouldn’t be able to say something.

 

What do you have in common with your favourite idol?

JiHoon and me have similar straightforward personalities, Asahi and I are alike when it comes to the first impression. Silent at first but dorky.

 

Is your bias different while performing and in real life? What is your reaction to the difference (if there’s any)?

Yes, especially Yoshi. I just feel amazed everytime Yoshi performs. I always remind myself that “don’t be fooled. He’s the same man who wants to be a kindergarten teacher”.

 

If you could write a book about your bias, what would the first and last lines be?

The book would be about the Twelve of them. The first time will be “Once there was a spaceship called YG and that spaceship made what you called today TREASURE” and the last line will be “And they lived in their each own world happily ever after the end”.

 

Have you ever made a new friend because of K-Pop?

Yeah, a lot but I don’t really want to talk about them because they’re gonna be mad seeing their names on a K-Pop article.
