Kpopmap Fan Interview: An Indonesian ALICE Talks About Her Favorite Group VICTON And Her Bias Chan

There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other' stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other.

So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.

Meguchi is the next fan to answer our questions. She is from Indonesia and is a fan of VICTON, and particularly of Chan. Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more!

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

Hello Kpopmap! My name is Meguchi. You can call me Meguchi or Megu hehehe 😚. I am from Indonesia 🇮🇩.

How and when did you enter the fandom?

I entered the fandom early in 2020. I first knew VICTON on 'Nostalgic Night' era in 2019 and became VICTON's casual listener ever since. When VICTON had their next comeback ('Howling'), I paid attention to them more. I thought my bias was not in the group anymore at that time because I recognized Chan on 'Nostalgic Night', but I couldn't find Chan on 'Howling' :'). It turned out my bias colored his hair into blonde during 'Howling' comeback and I didn't recognize him because he changed his hair color HAHAHHAHAHAA 😆😆😆😆. I was so close not to stan VICTON because I thought my bias wasn't in the group anymore HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. When I found out my bias was still in the group, I decided to enter ALICE fandom officially and here I am now.

What are the reasons why you love your favorite group?

Each member has their own charms. They're all talented and funny at the same time. Every time I watch their reality shows I can't help to laugh. And watching them perform on stage makes me so happy :'). VICTON loves and cherishes ALICE so much. Wherever they go, they always mention ALICE. That's why I decided to protect these 7 men, because they're so precious :').

Who caught your attention at first and why?

The first member that caught my attention first was Chan and SuBin (Chan was the one that I thought who wasn't in the group after Nostalgic Night :'') ). Both are very cute in a different way. Chan has this charm you will immediately fall in love with once you see him smiling. He radiates so much positive vibes. Just looking at him will make you feel that everything is gonna be okay :'). And SuBin radiates baby vibes so much. No matter how many times SuBin tells ALICEs that he's no longer a baby, SuBin will always be ALICEs' baby, even when he turns 50 :').

Who is your bias, and why?

My heart eventually went to Chan (sorry SuBinie T.T). Chan makes me want to better myself. Chan said, "When you're doing something, even if the progress is slow, even if it's 1%, it's still a progress". Chan motivates me not to easily give up and to not rush things. Chan said opportunity will come when the time is right. Chan is the living proof of that. In 2019, he jokingly said to ByungChan on V Live that he wanted to perform at "King of Masked Singer" and he did it in 2022 :'). He's a big fan of BEAST/Highlight and now he's become besties with Highlight members T^T.

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

If you like upbeat music, I would like to recommend 'Unpredictable' or 'Flip a Coin'.

If you like slow/comforting songs you can try to listen 'Circle', 'All I Know', and 'Light'.

Happy/cheerful songs I would recommend are : 'Sweet Travel', 'Celebrate' and 'You Are Mine'.

Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers?

This is Chan's performance at "King of Masked Singer". He's the main dancer in the group but his voice is so beautiful (;___;).

TMI from the video: this video reached 100m hearts for the first time on V Live after PDX 🥺. It's a very emotional V Live for VICTON and ALICE at that time 🥺.

I like this part of this lyrics from VICTON's song entitled 'Here I Am'.

Are there any words from the members you would like to share?

What is your favorite group/bias' influence on your daily life?

When I started stanning VICTON, I feel like I found my true self. I always been a fangirl my whole life but I was absent for couple of years. And when I found VICTON, I felt like I went back to becoming the real me again. Just watching VICTON perform on stage makes me so happy. All my worries are fade away when I watch VICTON. And VICTON members have a good synergy to each other. Whenever I feel sad/down, I just watch Chan's V Live or VICTON reality shows to make my mood better :').

What is your best souvenir with your favorite group until now?

My bias read my question on #TwitterBlueRoom and I had him struggle to read my question in English 😂😂😂😂.

My first win with Chan and I already had him struggle to read my question in English 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I'm sorry Chan, next time I will learn Korean better so I can give you questions without giving you a hard time 😂😂😂😂😂

Can you recommend words that your bias like to hear to new fans who don't know yet about it?

Chan loves getting a head pat from ALICEs for doing a great job, and he also loves to do the same to ALICEs to make them feel loved and appreciated. Chan also loves it when ALICEs say the miss him.

Can you describe your bias in only one word?

All-rounder Idol!
Chan can do everything, from writing lyrics, compose a song, play music instruments, etc.

If you can spend a day with your bias, where will you go and what will you do?

I want to go to the theme park with Chan~~~ Chan is an outdoor person but instead being romantic on the date, me and Chan probably would just sit soullessly after riding one or two rides 😆😆😆😆😆.

Name a variety show/content show that you would love to see your bias on? Tell us why.

"Showterview with Jessi"! I’ve been following contents from "Showterview with Jessi" and I have so much fun watching her contents. I'd really love to see VICTON as a guest to "Showterview with Jessi" and see their interactions with Jessi. I'm sure the interview will be funny as it will be a chaos :))). But too bad the show is already over now :’(((.
I also want to see VICTON on "Weekly Idol", "Knowing Brothers", and "Running Man". VICTON are always fun and hilarious in every content so definitely if given a chance to guest in any of these shows, even non-ALICEs would enjoy watching them.

What do you have in common with your favourite idol?

We both are extroverts and easily make friends or adapt to new things. Chan and I have the same MBTI- ESFJ. Before, Chan’s MBTI was ENFJ but on bubble, he told the ALICEs that his MBTI changed to ESFJ.

Have you ever made a new friend because of K-Pop?

Yes~~! Thanks to K-Pop, I made friends with a lot of ALICEs, and they’ve been good friends with me since day 1, when I became an ALICE :’). I love them so much (special mention to Hanna, Miko, Mel, Yen, Sheena, Cess, Angela, Zee, Vivi, Jane, Naomi) I love you alll~~~.

What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying?

My favorite side of fangirling is I get to know so many people inside the fandom from other countries and become close friends. We get to support each other. Me and other ALICEs from another countries successfully held an offline "Chan's Birthday Cup Sleeve Event" in 2021. Even though we're living thousand miles away. Shout out to Yen, Hanna, Miko, Gela, Cess and Sheena.
I love how mature and peaceful ALICE fandom is. We always support each other :"). I never found anyone as nice as the ALICE fandom :'). Being on this fandom is one of best decision in my life :').

Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite group from other fans (non-fans)?

Other K-Pop fans often mistakenly ByungChan as Chan when in fact there are two Chan in the group :').
K-Pop media platforms often misspell VICTON as "VICTION", "VICTOR" 😭💔.
SeungSik is VICTON's current leader. After SeungWoo came back from PDX, SeungWoo wanted SeungSik to continue being VICTON's leader.
