Kpopmap Fan Interview: A Malaysian Nia Talks About Her Favorite Artist Kim WooSeok & The Reasons Why She Loves Him

There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’ stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other.

So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.

 

Aira is the next fan to answer our questions. She is from Malaysia and is a fan of UP10TION’s Kim WooSeok. Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more! 

 

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

Hi, I’m Aira from Malaysia! I’m a fan of Kim WooSeok, a soloist who is also an idol-actor. My fandom is also known as Nia!

 

How and when did you enter the fandom?

I knew WooSeok from 2019 through X1, but I didn’t pay enough attention on him back then. On 2020, I naturally attracted to Kim WooSeok and become a Nia until now, 2022.

 

What are the reasons why you love your favorite artist?

WooSeok is a very hardworking and sincere in his career, he’s also super lovable towards his fans. In addition, WooSeok is a man who full of wise words in his mind, he’s very inspirational to me and other Nia.

 

Which song by them caught your attention at first and why?

The first song from him I listened to is ‘Flash’-X1! Even back then he’s not my favourite member, I caught attention on his part. He looks so dashing!

 

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

I recommend for new fans to listen to his new album~his new songs will be release on 7th March. Promotion aside, ‘Red Moon’ from his “1st Desire” album is a strong one to start with. For a B-side track, I really love ‘Holiday’ from his “2nd Desire” album for weekends vibe.

 

 

Can you recommend a fancam, V-Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your favorite artist to our readers?

I recommend for people to watch “WooSeok’s Unboxing” the most. It’s WooSeok’s own reality show that shows a lot of people about his natural side at home, there are two seasons overall. It will give a lot of ideas on how you could spend your time at home because of the pandemic, the show is also very calming.

 

Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics?

“Your smiling face looking at me, beautiful who suddenly came to me,” from his first fan song that he wrote and composed titled ‘Beautiful’.

 

Since your favorite artist is also acting, can you recommend dramas starring them for new fans?

I highly recommend Kim WooSeok’s recent drama “Bulgasal: Immortal Souls”! Even he’s not the main leads, WooSeok’s character, Nam DoYoon, has an important role as well. His acting is also beyond expectation for his first TV debut drama. There’s no regret in watching the drama!

 

Do you have an all-time favorite scene? Can you describe it or share a video?

My favourite scene in the drama “Bulgasal: Immortal Souls” is where all the characters gather like a family and have dinner together. That was a very calming and heart-warming scene that I have seen after a while, I really like the family love that they displayed.

 

What genre do you want them to appear in? What’s the reason?

I really want to see Kim WooSeok to appear in the genre melodrama, or maybe action! WooSeok is a kind of actor that express his emotions beautifully, I think the both genre will suit him well. For action drama maybe a not so extreme scenes for him, WooSeok still need more time to improve himself in acting.

 

What are the actors you would like them to act with? What’s the reason?

I want to see Kim WooSeok with the actor Kwon Nara or Gong SeungYeon again! I would like to see them as siblings, I really love the chemistry they have shown in the drama “Bulgasal: Immortal Souls”. I don’t know a lot of actresses, they’re the ones who first appeared in mind.

 

Are there any quotes by your favorite artist that you would like to share?

“Even though we don’t know when will we part ways, for now, don’t worry about those things”. WooSeok’s mind is full of good quotes, his words always left me overwhelmed every single time he talk.

 

What kind of influence has your favorite artist had on your daily life?

I’ve been in a very sad and stressful situation during the second year of the pandemic, but WooSeok always comes whenever I feel like crying and giving up. It may be a coincidence, but I feel like it’s a very comfortable way for me to calm down. His words make me feel better, I’m thankful for what he did without him realizing.

 

What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying?

When I’m feeling excited about WooSeok, of course! WooSeok is always busy, sometimes he doesn’t have too much content, but when he did, it’s the very best feeling ever! The waiting for him to come back is always worth it!

 

Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite artist from other fans (non-fans)?

Of course, I used to feel like it. The hate or maybe misunderstanding might come from a lot of sides, but us as Nia didn’t make a fuss and decide to ignore or settle it down slowly. If it’s just a light misunderstanding, then it’s fine, things like that can be settled down without any fight.
