There's a new claim to the 5th generation K-Pop throne, and it is none other than RIIZE. True to their name, this SM boy group has taken it upon themselves to imbue the current K-Pop landscape with a sortie of versatility, all the while establishing their "emotional pop" style with increasing conviction.

RIIZE made their comeback yesterday, April 18, with the single 'Impossible' as a prologue to their upcoming first mini-album, 'RIIZING'. 'Impossible is an energetic and breathless house/club track, a clear step away from the group's previous music and an addition to their versatile oeuvre. While it was expected that the song would do well, given the group's existing popularity, 'Impossible' took things to a whole other level, proving the consistent growth and evolution of RIIZE's sound.

It brings back the sparkling effervescence of K-Pop from SHINee's 'View' era but with RIIZE's own youthful and refreshing edge. Despite being in a completely new genre for RIIZE, there is an emotional connect to RIIZE's previous releases, which establishes a sense of storytelling where each chapter brings forth a new flavor. In particular, the subtle blend of nostalgia and futurism is impressively laid out, making the music video even more memorable.

If we had to compare, 'Impossible' is like the balanced diet our doctors recommend - impeccable vocals for aural bliss, outstanding choreography and live synchronization that makes you want to get up and dance (a standout is Shotaro's execution of the choreography, smoother than ever), and visuals that are a sight for sore eyes. In other words, stream 'Impossible' for good health and clear skin!

Our personal review aside, 'Impossible' is making quite the mark on charts just one day after its release. Take a look at RIIZE's chart placements (as of April 19, 19:00 KST) below!
