Why Did Jang DaA Cut Her Hair Short In The Latest Episode Of "Pyramid Game"?

        TVING

"Pyramid Game", starring WJSN's BoNa as Sung SooJi, Ryu DaIn as Myung JaEun, and Jang DaA as Baek HaRin, is one of the hottest K-Dramas both in and out of Korea right now.

As the drama enters its finale week, the internet is buzzing with theories about how this riveting story is going to be wrapped up.

However, among such discussions, one particular scene in the latest episode of "Pyramid Game" has left fans puzzled.

        Spoiler Alert!

In episode 8 of "Pyramid Game," Kim DaYeon (Hwang HyunJung) is transferred out of school after the authorities are forced to acknowledge her assault of Sim EunJung (Lee JuYeon) as school violence.

This causes HaRin's grandmother to start losing her trust in HaRin and in the Pyramid Game.

HaRin shows up on JaEun's doorstep that night with scissors in her hand.

Looking JaEun straight in the eye, HaRin cuts her hair short.

Jang DaA portrays this scene in "Pyramid Game" with sheer excellence with her eyes crazed yet calm, teary, and red.

The scene is incredibly well-shot, and it is impossible not to keep thinking about it, searching for the meaning behind the haircut.

On online forums too, K-netizens are discussing possible meanings of HaRin's haircut and what it symbolizes.

        Kpopmap's Theory

Baek HaRin has been losing to Sung SooJi time and time again in "Pyramid Game".

What HaRin wants is betrayal, yet she keeps being caught off guard by friendship, which seems to derail her plans.

Her twisted obsession with JaEun and her insatiable desire to torment her is growing more and more vicious, and HaRin is starting to crack.

DaYeon being forced to transfer is the last straw that breaks the camel's back.

HaRin has reached a point of no return and is bursting at the seams.

        But why cut her hair?

Throughout the show, Baek HaRin's noble appearance, her princess-like beauty, and regal aura have played a significant role in building her image as the apex predator.

Her hair can be seen as a symbol of her pride, power, invincibility, and the fact that she's superior to others.

It can also be perceived as HaRin's sense of restraint - how she is holding herself back from unleashing hell to keep up her image as the perfect woman.

By cutting her hair, Baek HaRin is declaring war.

She is no longer going to hold back, and she proves this by releasing the news about SooJi's father's alleged corruption.

HaRin is no longer playing by the rules, not even the ones she set herself, because there's more than just the pyramid game at stake.

HaRin's very identity is on the brink of destruction and the world she has known is crumbling right in front of her eyes.

Of course, she is losing it!

HaRin's short hair is an omen for what's coming, and we cannot wait to see it all go down in the final two episodes next week.

Jang DaA is doing a fantastic job as the quietly unhinged Baek HaRin and definitely deserves her flowers, especially considering that she is a rookie actress.

Netizens are applauding her acting skills and her ability to create palpable tension on screen.

After all, the popularity of "Pyramid Game" is proof of the actors' outstanding talent.
