5 Korean Dating Reality Shows To Heat Up Your Summer

Back in 2021, the wildly successful dating reality show “Single’s Inferno” swept the world by storm, receiving much praise from fans and critics alike. There was just something about the concept, chemistry between contestants, and of course the physical aspects that made the show iconic and binge-worthy.

Looking back, the winter days were definitely made warmer by the burning, passionate romance seen on “Single’s Inferno”. If you’re like us, you have yet to forget about the thrill of the show and the entertainment it brings.

With that being said, here is a list of 5 Korean dating reality shows that will heat up your summer.

 

1. “Change Days”

Hosted by Jang DoYoun, Heo YoungJi, Yang SeChan, and Code Kunst, “Change Days” has an interesting concept, bringing together already established couples as its contestants. These couples are struggling to keep their relationship afloat and are on the verge of breaking up.

Through the show, the participants get to know each other, go on dates with someone other than their original partner, and talk about the concerns of their current relationship. By the end, each participant must make a tough decision: to work on and remain in their relationship, break up and start with someone new, or walk away alone, without a partner.

“Change Days 2” has already premiered on Netflix and is looking to only get hotter with every episode.

 

2. “Love Catcher”

“Love Catcher” shows us what happens when love and money mix. Prior to moving into the house, participants must choose between two identities: ‘love catcher’ or ‘money catcher’.

While on the show, ‘love catchers’ look to form a sincere, genuine relationship with another ‘love catcher’. ‘Money catchers’ on the other hand can win nearly $45,000 if they are able to become a couple with a ‘love catcher’ by the end of the show. While making romantic advances, there is an added air of caution as participants can only guess who is there for love or money.

With three seasons already under its belt, “Love Catcher” has proven to keep viewers on the edge of their seats as participants attempt to find love or riches.

 

3. “Transit Love”

Have you ever seen your ex after a break up? Can you imagine living with them? “Transit Love” puts an entirely new spin on dating reality shows, bringing former couples to live together under one roof.

While living in the same house, these broken-up couples must pretend to be strangers to each other and are not allowed to reveal the identity of their ex to anyone. Throughout the show, participants are able to get to know  someone new and go on various dates. However, they might also feel jealousy, regret, and a whole bunch of other confusing emotions as they watch their ex fall for someone else right in front of their eyes.

With a panel made up of Lee YongJin, Simon D, Girl's Day's YuRa, actress Kim YeWon, and THE BOYZ' JuYeon, “Transit Love” pushes all the boundaries. It's a show that provides a chance for participants to find closure with their former partner while they also fall in love with someone new.

 

4. “Somebody”

One exciting element to dating reality shows is guessing the participants’ occupation. Mnet’s “Somebody” makes it easy for its cast and viewers, as all the singles on the show are professionally trained dancers.

From hip hop to ballet, and even modern Korean dance, the singles on “Somebody” cover a multitude of genres, showcasing their polished dance skills from the very first episode. While participants live together and go on dates, they are also tasked with various missions to create themed choreography either as a pair or as a group.

“Somebody” has already released two seasons worth of impressive dance moves, with participants setting both the stage and hearts on fire.

 

5. “Heart Signal”

When talking about dating reality shows, it’s hard to leave “Heart Signal” off of any list. It blew up in popularity, amassing a large amount of viewers and fans for a total of three seasons.

“Heart Signal” errs on the cozier side of things and was filmed over a longer period of time compared to other programs. Participants of the show come from all walks of life, ranging from students to office workers, and even a racecar driver. At the end of every night they need to send a text to the person they’re interested in. Then, a panel tries to guess where the participants' ‘heart signals’ are headed.

Not all “heart signals” are obvious, however, as participants have been known to choose someone totally unexpected, throwing multiple curveballs to the panel and viewers.
