7 K-Pop Songs Perfect For A Coming Of Age Film

        BIGHIT MUSIC

Besides a captivating plot and an excellent cast, one of the most important aspects of a film is the background music and OST. Nothing sets the mood better than the perfect song with a catchy melody and relatable lyrics. For coming of age films in particular, the songs used tackle themes of growing up, overcoming obstacles, and transitioning from one stage of life to another.

These songs are often uplifting and empowering, while also serving as a gentle reminder that we are not alone. Some songs fit this concept perfectly and although they were not specifically made to be featured in a coming of age movie, their vibe suggests that they most certainly should.

So here are some K-Pop songs we found to be the perfect fit for a coming of age film.

        1. TXT - '0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)' feat. Seori

Coming of age deals with many things including falling in love and heartbreak. '0X1=LOVESONG' embodies this idea perfectly with its powerful melody, amazing vocals, and wistful lyrics. It's easy to imagine the main character confessing to their high school crush with this song in the background.

        2. SEVENTEEN - 'Together'

It can be difficult to navigate adolescence and transitional periods of our life alone. But 'Together' by SEVENTEEN serves as a reminder that there will always be someone by our side. Knowing that someone is willing to accompany us through life is comforting and provides the strength needed to continue moving forward.

        3. Stray Kids - 'Grow Up'

With heartfelt and motivating lyrics, 'Grow Up' is the type of song you'd hear when the main character is going through a slump and struggling to find a direction. But despite the obstacles and difficulties of growing up, Stray Kids say "you're doing fine" and "even if it's hard and tiring, don't give up". 'Grow Up' is definitely a well needed dose of comfort on a hard day.

        4. DAY6 - 'Time of Our Life'

Every coming of age film needs a montage scene. It can be a compilation of friends hanging out, the main characters going on multiple adventures, or moments of a budding relationship. From the uplifting melody to the empowering lyrics and incredible vocals, 'Time of Our Life' is the perfect hype, feel good song made for montage scenes.

        5. IU - 'Palette'

IU's discography is filled with iconic songs that become hits among the public and fans alike. 'Palette' is but one of them, focusing on the feelings and changes that come with turning 25. The song's lyrics makes one realize that tastes change with age and the importance of accepting the current version of yourself. And sometimes, we just need to repeat after IU and say "I got this" to get through the day.

        6. NCT DREAM- 'Dear DREAM'

Filled with heartfelt rap and sweet vocals, 'Dear DREAM' is a song that reminisces about the past and the preciousness of those moments. While the lyrics mention the regretful feelings that linger, the song is overall hopeful and serves as a beacon of light in the dark moments.

        7. BTS - 'Spring Day'

You know those scenes in a coming of age film where the main character finally realizes that they're in love with their best friend? Well, BTS' 'Spring Day' would be an amazing fit for those moments. With its soft melody, tender vocals, and lyrics filled with yearning, this song is the complete package and any soundtrack would be perfect with its addition.
